I agree ck, you can't compare the oldies to the times of new. I would also agree that wrestling has taken on an entirely different attitude and atmosphere. However, I'm not sure that I would say the road to Hershey is any easier. It is very different, but likely just as difficult. Although there were more wrestlers then, I believe that there are more quality wrestlers now and probably the top notch kid of today is better than that of yesterday. Wrestling has changed from being a sport that was once full of brawny farmboys and motorheads, to a sport of highly trained crazy freaks. You see a lot more technique in todays wrestling.

Are today's wrestlers tougher and better than yester year's wrestlers, I don't know. Today with 14 weight classes, full wrestle backs, and two classes (AAA & AA) its more advantageous for wrestlers to place throughout the post season. Prior to 1973, one loss and you were going home in the post season and the school classes were not divided. Anyway I'm going to give my two sense on who's the best in D5 alltime.
The 03-04 Cougars are not included in this list, pending this year's post season results. So take a look and gimme some feedback!!!!
