Who said ferndale, I said shanksville. I don't think ferndale is very good, but did have a little better success this year than others. I said shade because they are 20-1 and played a lot of games without fyock and still won. That is why I go fyock as the top coach. I do agree with bishop carrolls coach this year having a great season. Also cobaugh for what he did with j-town on a team that was suppose to be average.

Sppawfan u said this in an earlier post - "Also, fyock beat ferndale at ferndale and gave the vikings all they could handle missing an mvp."

It is hard to win down at ferndale, but they are just an average team. Same as bv, but to win all those games is pretty good without the mvp.jmo Shade doesn't have many kids either. They are a team that can't afford to lose an mvp and they still held it together. You are right though, teams weren't very good in the west pac this year. Pretty weak d-5 also with teams under 500 probably getting a playoff spot.

Overall the WestPAC is not strong, but I think the top teams will represent the league well in districts and hopefully beyond. Shade, Shanksville, and ct are strong teams. Wouldn't surprise me to see Rockwood or Berlin do well in the A district playoffs.

I agree with those teams also and overall it wasn't very strong. Bv and ferndale weren't bad either.

Both bv and Ferndale have a great player or players but their weakness appeared to be that they relied heavily upon those great players. There are three players between those two teams that any team in the area would love to have. For some reason, be it lack of full supporting cast, role players or buy in to coaching philosophy - they don't appear to consistently click. I wish them all well in the playoffs and hope that they represent their league well.

What about hyndman and fannet metal? Are they any good and can they knock off a shade in the d-5a playoffs??

I really thought FM could make a good run but bannister sprained his ankle, sat out for week or 2 and came back and isn't the same person. He went from 20ppg to about 8. But they have good height and a nice pg in hurrell. But they won't be shade. Hyndman has Torbet, bingman, leydig, and Deneen who can all score very well but don't play defense. I think if Berlin can shoot like they did last year against SF the semifinals they have a chance to make a run!

I agree with all the possible candidates mentioned above for Coach of the Year. One other inclusion might be Drenning from BG. I looked back to see where they were picked in the pre-season before posting this and D6SN had them 8th in the LHAC. The only team they didn't defeat at least once that was ranked above them was Johnstown.
Aliquo, Fyock, Durham, Coolbaugh and a number of other coaches have had great years but as a fan who sees mostly LHAC games I thought he might deserve a mention.
To me the best example of really good coaching is exceeding expectations or performing above your talent level. I think for the most part BG has done that this year. I know they are much better than they have been in the recent past.
Good luck to all the teams in the playoffs. This is really a great time of year and all the local players and coaches deserve credit for the hours they put in. I can't wait to go watch the games.
