The Hard Core fans from Homer are up there.

I remember the Homer Dome Hard Core Fans and the website they used to have. Different members would paint their faces all differently like ICP and Kiss and such, it was pretty sweet to see back in the day. Windber had the Legion of Doom but other than having all matching Tshirts and sitting together they never really had chants or cheered a ton.

Portage has a nice small group of about 40 - 50 students that gets together to support the successful girls team known as "The Herd". I give them credit for trying to show their school spirit for a program that hasn't been very good in quite sometime except recently. They've had some "theme nights" with beach attire, white & green outs, and other things. They also got the players heads blown up on big signs like you see in student sections of college and NBA games and added a big groundhog one for their game on Feb 2nd. Although not the best or most impressive I'm sure the girls love the support and fun they have.

Attendance at high school sporting events seems to be down in general this year. I am witnessing smaller student sections that appear to be less focused on school spirit and more focused on being irritating and annoying. What I mean by that is less group cheers and more individuals just acting... Goofy.

I'll second that BigSky... You have 10-20 students who just yell back and forth at each other now.

I miss some of the old student sections. Westmont had a very good one a few years ago. I was at a game when they played McCort and some kid had a giant clock hanging around his neck.

Best in the state- Erie Prep. Now that games will be back in Hershey student sections might have an effect on things again...

I agree, Windber's Legion of Doom and Conemaugh Townships Rowdies we're as interesting as watching the Basketball games between the rivals.. of course that was years ago..now kids wont leave their X-Boxes and Computers

Saw Erie Prep's student section first hand. Their entire senior class student body who does not play basketball (all males) are required to be at all games. They are very distracting (if you allow them to be), very loud, and exceptionally intimidating (if you allow them to be.) They make any other student sections that I have seen in PA child's play.

There is a private school in Richmond, VA who has a student section that's even better than Erie Prep's stduent section. Benedictine Prep, always a tremendous HS basketball program, has a student section that fills almost half of their 2500 seat gymnasium. ALL males (called Cadets, hence their school's nickname is the Cadets) are required to attend each home game and attendance is taken. The cadets dress up in their military uniforms and are raucous the whole game from 30 minutes before game time throughout the whole game. They are also seated both in front of and behind the visitors' bench. They are led into the game by a drill team. Honestly, it's like being at an Army-Nacy football game. I assisted with a team who played there years ago, and I honestly could not hear myself or anyone else speak even just a foot away from me. It was the loudest environment I have ever been in at a HS basketball game.

Incidentially, our team led by 12 at halftime as our star guard went 6 for 6 from 3pt range, and then we melted down as they had 4 D1 players (Augst and Osby played at UNC Asheville and Maryland respectively) and we lost in OT. The other thing that made it difficult is that VA HS basketball has a 35 sceond shot clock, which we weren't used to.

Is your favorite character on "Big Bang Theory" Bawwy Kwippke? Sowwy! Speaking of the guy that plays Krippke, have you seen the commercial for insurance that he is in? He writes some stuff on his right hand, but a few seconds later, rubs his LEFT hand across his forehead and leaves a dark smudge. OOOPS! BTW- someone else a few years ago referred to them by that. I just remembered it that way.

Nope. Thought your reference had something to do with the fact that pariochial schools don't have speech programs. If you've ever noticed, there are always some private school kids running around at youth basketball tournaments substituting ws for rs.
