I don't seen "yachting" on the list ... http://www.olympic.org/sports ... I assume you mean "sailing" ... which sounds less elitist than "yachting" ... and I think sailing is a pretty fundamental sporting event that belongs in the Olympics ...

Modern Pentathlon ... I think it was invented for the Olympics ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_pentathlon ... not sure how/why it has more "appeal" than wrestling ...

Best I can figure is that the IOC is trying to squeeze money from Wrestling supporters *and* ModPen supporters by playing them against each other ... tempting to roll up the mat and go home (ie. just have the World Championships and call it good) ... but the truth is that the world is a better place with Wrestling in the Olympics ... so that's worth fighting for ... just sad that it's a financial fight ... which feels like has a corrupt basis ...

What Olympics will become. A track and field meet with gymnastics and swimming/diving events.

The paper said something like 150 some countries participate in Olympic wrestling. Half that for "modern pentathlon". Wrestling in the Olympics is thousands of years old Thats tradition. Modern pentathlon? Not so much.
