Re: Trade deadline --- Bucs moves
Pedro Marte Cole and cutch.....name one other guy out of 400 draft picks the last 8 years that's done anything in the bigs( and Marte was an international sign) I like polanco but where will he play? Already got 2 center fielders playing now and Presley who was sent down hitting .300 and meadows coming in a few years. Allie will be the everyday right fielder in 2 years. Use the chip now while it garners max value

Polanco is about 10X more likely to be an impact player in the bigs than Allie. The way to build a strong team these days is from within. Not trades (see Giants, went all in for Beltran, gave up Wheeler who beat then last night, farm system is hurting). Not by signing big name free agents (see Angels, Pujos, Hamilton). The team the does things the right way is St. Louis. They draft well, develope their players well, and sign a few free agents to fill in. They certainly don't deal their top prospect for aging players on the downhill of their career. The Pirates seem to be following this path, and I hope they don't sway from it.

Re: Trade deadline --- Bucs moves
Allie is hitting .326 with 18 hrs and 61 RBI thru 65 games which is more than cutch, bonds , Marte, and the rest did in their first full season(125games) in A ball. He is power and a run producing machine with a batting avg.... Oh yeah he doesn't strike out much.... He'll be in right in 2 years

He did the 1st week or so,,, 1 hit 1 rbi, he's been there for 19 games now and avg climbing back up around .240-250, with 2 hrs and 7 rbis in last week. BTW he's #79 Prospect according to BA.

Steson Allie struck out 30% of the time while playing for the west Virginia power in the SAL league. he is still very raw.Andrew Lambdo will be here before Allie.

Seems like he was around longer than 6 years.... I was kinda being a wise guy too. Just think he has a lower ceiling

Re: Trade deadline --- Bucs moves
Well, the Bucs and Cards -both- stood pat at the deadline, without any moves. The 1 minor leaguer the Bucs picked up doesn't really do much. For the past month or so, I've been saying to myself, and a couple others, if they can take down the Cards and Reds, I'm ready to "drink the Koolaid". After taking 4 for 4 against St. Louis, I'm there. More offensive punch would be a plus, but they're getting it done with what they got. Even when a top pitcher has an horrific night for him. And w/o your top stud reliever, and no Wandy in the rotation. Cumpton looked great the other night. I don't have an "Eatn'Park smiley face yet, but it is an amusing grin.
It ain't over until it's over.
