So scores as follows for Friday

Homer center over saltsburg 48-6
Ligonier valley over purchase line 35-0
Blairsville over Marion center 20-14
Penns Manor over northern cambria 21-20

Takeaways from the night:

1. Homer center is better than expected, that game was never close it was impressive.
2. Blairsville and marion center delivered and expect playoffs for both.
3. Penns manor and northern cambria will live and die on the line.
4. Penns manor got lucky tonight, more than daft punk.
5. Ligonier is strong defensively
6. Pm nc mc bl delivered entertaining games with pm nc being a game of the year nomination no doubt.

I was going to ask you last year but never got around to it. Do you actually get to watch these teams play? I see your from Idaho. Just impressed at how well you break these teams and games down without actually seeing them being played.

Tough to critique on opening night, but I think everyone knew HC would be good. They return all their line, a QB who has a good bit of experience. The key to their season is going to be RB/LB Mike Newhouse. Kid is a bull, but has to stay healthy.

Purchase Line was all over Ligonier early in the game, they just didn't have the horses. PL rotated two QB's Sunderlin who is a thrower and Ewing is a runner, when either tried to throw they just threw it up for grabs and they were picked. PL threw three picks and has two or three fumbles in the first half alone. PL caused a few turnovers and had some momentum, but made dumb penalties to prolong drives.

In my opinion Ligonier misused Alec Bloom on defense. They had him covering receivers as PL came out in sort of a spread option shotgun offense. If they had Bloom coming off the edge I don't think PL could have stopped him. I did like how he was used on offense as a wing. He was in motion a lot and was the lead blocker on a lot of plays. They also let him carry a few times on buck sweeps and he caught a number of passes. PL had no answer for him.

Blairsville is still the mystery team for me. Scott Thompson threw three interceptions in the first half. Take those out and the rest of the time he was 9 of 10 passing. Deion Robinson is one of the more talented backs around and they have a few injuries on offense.

I've seen the Hudl for the NC/PM game and let me tell you, about 3-4 bad calls really cost NC a lot. True though, both teams will most likely live and die by the line. Suchar and Kowalski looked good running, but terrible passing. Dumm had a great run to give PM a lot of momentum and as stated earlier, a few of the calls were pretty much just blown towards Northern Cambria.

Taking nothing away from either team, both played tough and stuck it out until the end.

Lion dad do you have a final on the United game? I couldn't find the score or stats. And rambli man I get to watch if streamed. Otherwise im on msa listening to all the games then follow up on stats. Thats really what games are. High school announcers are also a lot better at describing gamed because they only focus 1 play at a time.

United lost 31-3, the game was 3-3 late in the 2nd quarter. United running a new offense had 5-6 turnovers and BC scored on 4 big plays. Outside of that United was very physical like old school United. If they can get their offense on track they should be decent this season.
