I agree 72 but BG is less known for that system than BC when it comes to football. Just speaks volume and on how people look at certain teams may detour their play against them

All private schools should automatically be thrown into AAA no ifs ands or buts about it. My hats off to gouse for having enough guys to say it and make it known. Maybe this is what we need, somebody to put them on blast because until then it will never change. Public schools will get the shaft every year.

Nobody asked me but:
1. If you want to win the D6 A Championship in football, its simple. Have the team that plays its best when it matters. No you can't "beat the system", but if your teams good enough, you can still win District 6A. Its not the SEC here guys, I see it and am a part of it every week. It doesn't matter if it is LHAC, Westpac, ICC, Heritage, etc.... Bellwood (I know, "too big" for this discussion) had a very talented team last season and defeated THREE private schools in a row. If you truly have the best team, you will beat everyone else. Life isn't fair, separate yourself from everyone else. Its not like Southern Columbia or Clairton or Dunmore is in this district - its there for the taking if you have a team come together.
2. Please lets not take away from the accomplishments of this group of BG FOOTBALL players. They have not been successful recently and all of this success they are having is a result of a new coach and hard work by high school students - PLEASE LETS GIVE THE KIDS SOME CREDIT. All if not most of the kids that contribute to this BG team have played at the school their whole career.
3. I would argue Bishop McCort and Bishop Carroll have had a much longer line of "ruining District 6A in football." McCort and Carroll have many examples of taking in kids from other schools for their senior year, or after a stellar underclassman year. If you think about it, the closest surrounding schools to BG are Bellwood, Tyrone, and Altoona. There are not many kids leaving Bellwood or Tyrone to play football at BG. I would even argue Altoona kids would rather stay at Altoona to play.
4. I understand the frustration with Portage fans. The Mustangs have a great program that is very well respected. Although D6A may not be the SEC, it is however very competitive. To be a routine top5 playoff qualifier is to be commended. But like Juniata Valley for example, the small green and white schools are playoff qualifiers most years, but routinely have a team the is not able to compete for a championship. IF/WHEN Portage can have it all come together, they will be able to win the district. Hopefully Girls Basketball this year
5. Last but not least, I must admit that of course BG recruits for Girls Basketball. That cannot be argued. My thoughts above are strictly BG and District 6A Football. Basketball is a completely different animal.

It's funny because all 5 starters for BG girls basketball last year were children of people who went to BG and had all been in the Altoona parochial system from the start.... jusy saying...
