Quote is right. Spread is just the wing T with WRs instead of wing backs. I look at a team who can put everyone on the line of scrimmage and go up against a stacked defense and still run for 5+ yards a carry. Controlling tempo is just as important as anything when it comes to the offense

I don't want to go into college but let's just use this as an example: the Oregon/Stanford game. Stanford slashed Oregon 3-5 yards at a time and controlled the clock and won it. But Stanford also has a good Quarterback in Kevin Hogan. I agree with whoever said it was about balance. But the wing-t is very deadly

The system is less important than the talent, when BC was winning way back when they were doing it with the wishbone but the talent on those teams would have won with just about any system. In the 1999 Western Final we played South Side Beaver and got crushed by a team that ran the Wing-T but beat a few teams easily that year that ran the same offense, the difference was talent.

I think it depends on the skill sets of your players. If you're running a system and the skill set doesn't match it, then you're wrong. Todd Graham at Pitt kinda is exhibit A when it comes this. I think we're championship's are won/lost is off season training more so than the system a school runs. In today's realm, if you're a predominately a run team, your line gotta be as strong as possible, and if you're a passing team, you gotta get to as many 7 on 7's as humanly possible. I think the weight room is as important or more important than 7 on 7's, but having your athletes go to camps whether it's at Pitt, UMD, PSU, WVU, or anywhere is a must these days.

The best offense is the one that fits the athletes you are given. I dont really like the guy, but Bob Palko from West Allegheny is a heckuva coach. He has tinkered a lot with what his team does over the years on offense to fit the players he is given. That's a good coach.
