Speed, speed, and more speed.
Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
I hate to tell you in the bedford game they had 3 big special teams plays, 1 for a td and the other two set up the offenses only score on a counter and the other big return set them up too! Also bedford jumped a screen pass and returned it to the 1 yd line. Other than that it was all somerset. That was somersets worst played game with turnovers and tons of penalties and they still won at bedford handily. Somerset moved the ball, bedford didn't. Somerset fumbled at the 1 yd line of bedford also. Terrible game and they still won away against one of the top teams in the lhc. That is what I saw of the game. Somerset had a td run of 30 yds also called back. Totally disagree with the above poster on that one. Bedford will have a tough time with forest hills in my opinion, especially if the qb is back. Somerset wrs dropped a lot of passes that game also.
Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
Somerset was the better team vs. Bedford. Bedford was in it and maybe could have one had they played a cleaner game. But Somerset is better.
I would say the faster teams in the area, MU, Somerset, BG, Bedford are also some of the best teams in the area. Generally being a faster more athletic team leads to wins. I don't think it's any different now then it has ever been. I just think that overall football is not as competitive as what it was a few years back in this area. That goes for all conferences. I just think football is down. Now the top teams are still really good, just seems to be the weak are getting weaker.

Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
west33, special teams and turnovers are part of the game.
Somerset had 2 pick 6's and a 1 yard drive for a TD. If you take those points off it's 21 offensive points for Somerset. Bedford played them tough. Somerset's D had it's way with them as they have everyone. I've seen somerset a few times this year and they have had their way with everyone. Far and away best test for them thus far was Bedford.

That's not 28 points. That's funny or fuzzy math.ramfan25 wrote:a pick 6 is 7 points you lost and 7 they got... 14 totalGoDragons wrote:I wasn't at the game, and not to take anything away from Bedford, but on the score board and based on stats, it doesn't appear Bedford "could" have won handily. That was the point. Somerset had 15 first downs, Bedford had 8. Somerset had 313 yards of offense, Bedford had 111. Somerset had 3 turnovers, Bedford had 4. How do you get a 28 point swing out of 2 pick 6s?

14 x 2 = 28... Sorry thought u could do that in your headGoDragons wrote:That's not 28 points. Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
I can do that math in my head. I was just trying to give the benefit of the doubt that you weren't trying to equate that to 28 points, which is ludicrous and delusional. I remember a die hard Rams fan making a statement years ago when the Steelers beat them by 4 touchdowns. He said, quote "a couple of different plays and the Rams would've won by two touchdowns. Of course he wasn't a realist....

lol what are you even talking about who cares. Who cares if I'm wrong anyways lol it's a blog with people's opinions you just look like an idiot when you put stuff like that.GoDragons wrote:I can do that math in my head. Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
I am not disagreeing with you that bedford was their toughest test. And bedford has a nice team. I am just saying it was a bad played game by somerset with special teams and all the penalties and they played away and still came away with a commanding win. Bedford had an int returned to the 1 yard line that they scored and waugerman returned a kickoff to the somerset 20 where bedford scored off a counter and shaffer gave them a td on the opening kickoff return of the game. Bedfords offense couldn't move the ball. Somersets did, but like I said had too many dropped passes and penalties and still won away! That was basically bedfords 20 pts off of the special teams and the int to the 1. Otherwise montgomery and boys got shut down!

Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
I was trying to get at spread offenses being todays game. Speed allows you to run that. As for Bedford the game is on RMG Generator so watch and decide for yourself. Thats not what the topic was getting at. I just wanted input on the new style of offense and how its dominated the last couple years. Richland (in past years), Somerset, Giulfoyle, and Clariton (even though they would dominate with any offense.) along with many other teams in the state I dont follow as close. Also who has the best chance to make it deep in playoffs and who has the most speed?
Re: Speed, speed, and more speed.
your right on that I think.
Somerset, Richland, BG, Bedford, Chestnut Ridge are all running it or have with success at some point in the past few years. I think when you spread things out like that you really stress teams that aren't as athletic or fast.
But it basically comes down to who you got. Good athletes make good teams.
