I think the biggest thing why Florida State isn't number one is simple, they aren't rewarding them for last season, and that I have no problem with. I think Mississippi State deserves to be number one, but I think Florida State is firmly number two, though.

BUT FSU could probably be ranked one, for whatever reason they aren't getting credit for beating Clemson ON THE ROAD without JAMEIS WINSTON. To go be beat a ranked conference rival with your backup QB on the road is a big deal.

The Clemson game was in Tallahassee, but I still agree with FSU being at 2. Although really as long as you are in the playoffs I don't really see a reason to worry about what seed you are.

Yeah I don't know why I thought it was in Death Valley, but either way, still a good win.

I think the SEC is becoming more exposed each and every week. These high rankings are based on overrated and overhyped teams by the major media outlets. Would the selection committee put a 2 loss SEC team in over an undefeated or 1 loss team, we may get to find out.

Although this could be a disaster, it won't matter if the other one loss teams fall too. 3 of the 7 teams you mentioned lost last week. In my eyes, only 8 teams still have a shot at playoffs with Bama, Oregon, FSU, Miss St, TCU, Baylor, Ohio St, and Ole Miss. I only keep Ole Miss in there because if they win out they will have wins over Bama and Miss St and still have a chance to win the SEC.

Yeah Ole Miss' strength of schedule was losing to good LSU and Auburn teams, who now have 3 and 4 losses respectively.

I know they would never put them in but don't forget about Marshall. They are undefeated and steam rolling opponents. If I'm a non-power 5 conference commissioner, I am doing something to break off from this system. This year proves there isn't anything a MAC, C-USA, Sun-Belt, or MWC can do to make the 4 team playoff and that includes going undefeated in a year when it looks like 2 loss teams will make the tournament.

I think the American Conference could get a team in under certain circumstances. They have enough meaningful programs to justify an undefeated team making it.

You are correct abpk, they all could finish with less than 2 losses. If I had to bet, I would think 1 or 2 of them will lose just because that's how it goes, but they could. Yes Crimson, Ole Miss has lost ground with Auburn and LSU losing but I still see a possibility of them getting in IF they win the SEC AND other teams lose. Not saying it's likely, in fact it's pretty unlikely, but still possible. I think only those 8 teams even have any sort of possibility unless somehow 5 of them lose.

LSU beat wisconsin and Auburn beat kansas state. Heck alabama beat WVU who gave TCU a run for their money and beat baylor already this year. These teams didn't lose a game at home to an unranked opponent. Heck Missisippi State and Alabama in my eyes are #2 and #3 right now. I can't see an argument against it thats valid.
