Please explain how Pitt is not the best team in PA.

And if a team has the ability to slow a team down that no one else does, does that not, in essence, make them at least slightly better team than the rest?

And how does Uconn and the 'Cuse... "only uconn and syracuse have winning records on the road in the big east in the last 10 yrs. " how does that work?? Im almost positive pitt had a winning record last year in the big east. And agreed with what 11th man says. Whos better then Pitt in PA?? Penn State? Duquene? UPJ..haha. Is Temple in PA, i think they are.

first of all, st joes is from philadelphia which is in PA, i think. u guys forget about the eastern part of the state sometimes. i get a constant reminder of st joes every nite on the news since i currently am residing about 5 mins away from hawk hill. i just feel st joes is a better team than pitt right now. imo...

secondly, uconn and syracuse are the only teams to have winning records over the past 10 yrs in the big east. by this i mean, uconn and syracuse have more road wins than losses over the past 10 years in big east play, not on a year by year basis but overall. sorry for the confusion. i am just trying to emphasize how important home court advantage can be in the big east. even in the country, just ask coach K.

Yeah, my bad Austin, I realized just as I posted that St. Joes was in Philly. As for thinking St. Joes is better than Pitt, you aren't alone. All the the voters must think the same thing. I think Pitt's schedule is a little tougher, but still, being undefeated 20+ games into the season in any conference is a quite an accomplishment.

Also, I think Mussberger's comment was meant to mean Pitt is the beast of the "big" east. At least that's the way I took it.

Granted that St Joes probably plays the easiest schedule in the country but look at Pitts pre Big East schedule... it was terrible. I'll agree with Austin... St Joes is the best team in the state. Pitt won't make it outta the 2nd round of the tourney... you heard it here.

Pitt's Big East schedule is toughening the Panthers up for the NCAA's. The Hawks A10 is preparing them for defeat. Their toughest opponents of late have been Villanova, Temple and RI. The average RPI of the teams in the A10 is 102. The average RPI of the Big East is 62.5. It appears to me that the Panthers did the smart thing..played their cupcake schedule at the beginning of the season, allowing their young players to mesh with their experience. Now the BE wars are toughening them up. All of those blowout losses that the Hawks are producing will spell doom for the Hawks.

there is no question that the A10 is not as good as the big east. st joes still gets some tough games tho. dayton is a very good team but couldnt stay within 10 pts of the hawks. every Big 5, philly area school, team that st joes plays will make sure the area's darling school will take a shot or two in the mouth before tournament season comes around. st joes plays temple at the palestra this saturday, i would go but it has been sold out for months. this game should prove to be a tough game for st joes.

pitt has some tough games left too. they play at providence and i think they play syracuse again and of course the big east tourney where they are most likley gonna see uconn again. pitt hasnt played providence yet this season. i am curious to see how they will defend the one-man show that is ryan gomes.

depending on the bracket, i see st joes and pitt going about the same distance in the tourny. definately going to the 16 and probably to the 8 but no further than the final 4.

I think the one man show is Ryan Gomes, not wayne gomes. Wayne gomes was a putrid relief pitcher for the Phillies and then resurfaced w/ the giants and now is struggling in the minors I believe.
