Hall is a Senior in HS this year. And for HW, their highly touted Redshirt Freshman Nick Nevills got hurt before the season with a season ending injury, hence them not having a good backup to throw in there.

Thanks for the info. That hwt could cost them vs Iowa. Iowa has gillman,clark both ranked 2nd then ryan,number 1 ranked sorenson, e. cooper, paddock/rhoads, alex meyer #3 sam brooks #8, nate burak #4, and a good freshman in sam stoll at hwt. Sorenson/Retherford at 149 and Meyer/Nikal at 174, and Brooks/Mccutcheon at 184 will determine if we beat them. We have 3 guys at 165 in rasheed,morelli, and hammond. Will need that wgt too. It will be close.

I would think that PSU is getting Jan Johnson ready to go at Heavyweight (recently moved from football team to wrestling team) He will be an undersized Heavy but with his pedigree I believe he will hold his own when called upon.

Good point Chief. Did see his name in some matches. Hopefully he can keep those matches close enough for psu. That nolf is killing people. That nikal guy is good for a young wrestler too.

PSU lost three HWT's to graduation last year. They recruit HWT just like the other weights but this year they just didn't have a backup for Nevills. They recently lost a verbal commit from HWT Gabriel Byer too. Jan is currently injured and they used Devon Van Cura at HWT (who is giving up a lot of weight to the HWT's).

I didn't see any back-ups to mcintosh at 197 either. He gets hurt, that would kill their chances for sure.

I saw they were forfeiting the hwt match in some meets.

They FF'd the VT match at HWT cause it was already in hand and (imo to save Johnson from wrestling WALZ) and they FF'd against Stanford which again, it didn't cost them a win.
