Crimson Kdka has an hour dedictated to high school football. It's every Friday starting at 11.

Maybe I'm thinking of WTAE then. I know channel 11 gets to a number of games though.

The one northeastern PA channel we used to get had a 45 minute window for their high school football. I used to watch it all the time when I was younger, even if I knew nothing of the teams from that area. I don't remember if it was WNEP or the other channel we got from that region that I don't recall the call-sign for,

Couldn't RMG do some type of Friday night highlights. A couple guys downloading highlights, technology seems to be making this similar. With the interest that there is out there, advertising should be interested, then it could be watched Friday night or Saturday morning

WTAE used to do a Sat. morning review show. Either 8 or 9 AM.

That would make sense if they do something Saturday mornings. I don't recall their Friday 11:00 news devoting much time to it.
RMG stopped the RMG Gametape, not sure exactly what they are doing.

WNEP always had the best show, and still does. Joe Zone back in the 80s/90s they were all over. As for TAJ and JAC, budgets...JAC stepped it up but both channels have limited resources as far as reporters to cover the games.

RMG now does what they call Big Plays where they put out highlights from the games they cover each week. This past week was BG /Bedford and Berlin /North Star I believe. Not as extensive as their former coverage but better than nothing and still high quality.

The thing I don't understand is that for both local newspapers and local television news, they focus so much on 'national' stories when most of us either get news online or through one of the big national mediums.
Local news, be it print or television, does best when they focus on local news. And local sports is one of the best ways. Sure, you can get highlights or watch a lot of games online now or see highlight blurbs, but it's great to be able to see a long run of many area games all in one format in one time. Local newspapers detailing all the local games is a big draw. Something that IS hard to find elsewhere on the net.

In my experience living in the Pittsburgh area since '98, KDKA was always bringing up the rear as far as HS coverage. First it was WPXI and the Fedko Zone but later, Andrew Stockey and Operation Football on WTAE took over as being the standard bearer. They had some good cooperatives with some area colleges to help out with highlights too.
Any level of coverage down here I give credit for because there are SO many teams in the WPIAL (plus the City) and someone ALWAYS feels slighted.
As for WJAC, I will like to see what they have done when I'm around Labor Day weekend.
