I was amazed that he didn't get recognized for his accomplishments, locally, but this supports my point that he should have. Few players had a bigger impact on their team than this one. He was a 4 year starter and was the constant force on a line that was often changing around him and usually inexperienced. Without him, you can take away a good bit of wins and a handful of playoff appearances.
Tanner was first team All-West for us, he was nominated by his coach and we agreed.

Thanks, Bill. I don't glean every source or all state team, and this is the first I saw or heard any mention of him, and the other Rangers, except Peretin. It was, as others mentioned, most-deserved. I also previously stated w/o Gavlak, FH has a few less wins.

hard to do anymore, there are too many "all-state" teams done by people/sites that have NO clue. I've seen 3, besides the AP all-state, that I know for fact the people that put them together have absolutely no clue about anyone outside their hometown and one or two that just copy/paste from what they see on the internet. our selections come from the coaches and our reporters that have seen the teams. how do I know the copy/paste thing? traps.

If the coaches in his own conference who actually saw him play both live and on film picked Nick Peretin as all conference over him, you are telling me they were wrong? Interesting.

I'm telling you that he was nominated by coaches, not just one. Peretin is also on the 1st team but as long snapper...I provided a link..soo

Obviously Youngbuck, you haven't watched a lot of the games. Clearly should have been first team all conference and all area. The PFN and WesternPA got it right. I commend them.

Just honestly wondering. When I saw the Western PA teams, what constitutes someone winning All Western PA long snapper? Have all long snappers been seen and how are they compared besides having good snaps on punts and field goals. Also, not docking the long snapping position as I know they can lose games but why do they get a spot on the team and field goal/extra point holders not? Again just curious and would appreciate a response.

When a player is deemed very good at a "non regular" position, that position is added. Typically the center falls under "offensive line". We've had several long snappers make our teams over the years, though it's rare. They definitely are a rare breed. Another example could be punter. Sometimes there just isn't a standout punter in a certain class, so that category may be eliminated. Fullback is another. These days fullbacks are rare, so if we get a player nominated that is outstanding in that area, fullback is added. Again, we do rely on the coaches word as to whether it is worthy.

Not making your leagues 1st team, then being named anything all state, is like not winning your conference and playing for a national title
