So are they ever going to hire someone, or are they just going to keep dragging this out?

I can't foresee coach Artley leaving Blairsville, especially after all of the time and effort he has put in down here. I have heard possibly shutty or Hoover for the job but it is taking a while on this one.

My source says this has been a huge mess at NC, which is typical of how their board and admin handle things, no matter who is in charge.

Apparently they weren't sold on the original candidates (assistants Hoover and Wiewiora both have enemies on the board) but the bigger issue was that this new administration will not let the board participate in the interview process, or even see the candidates resumes! Admin handles the process and recommends, and board is supposed to vote yes, but enough of them are so upset with this process that they were refusing to vote and neither candidate had a majority to get hired, so it turned into a big thing and all they could do was re-open it. That's when Shutty and Overdorff applied (hearing former Taranto DC Matt Barczak may have too).

I was told a lot more about this, but the parent I talked to expected them to hire Shutty because he's part of the old boys club despite how poorly he did at CC and how questionable his playcallinb was last year. A lot of them wanted Hoover, but he only has 3 years of coaching and is seen as brash & inexperienced by the admin & board. Oddly enough, the parents and players absolutely did not want Wiewiora, but that was who the administration was pushing hardest for. The AD, who is generally despised at NC, worked with him for years at CH and his sister is Joy Tibbott, who was their principal and is now a teacher and currently has a lawsuit against the district, so connect the dots there.

Shutty didn't apply for the job the first time it was advertised, so a lot of parents are wondering what he was promised to apply this time (he wants a job there). Bigger issue seems to be that there's a general lack of people there who will coach and Shutty will have a hard time building a quality staff with both Frank & Tom Paronish and Dave Small supposedly retiring from coaching altogether. Hoover I'm told has other coaching offers and is disappointed by how the district has handled this, but Wiewiora will try to stay bc his kid will be a Jr and that's the only way he'll see the field, but none of the other coaches really want him on their staff. The district screwed over Taranto last year (anyone know the story on this?) and he is refusing to coach or do anything for the district except teach. Paul is a good guy and solid coach, so that's another head-scratcher and a loss for NC.

My friend was generally disgusted about the situation. Said they've been without a coach for 4 months and this should've been handled ahead of time since they knew this was Paronish's last year well before the season started.

Also, Artley was never a candidate for this job. No way he'd leave Blairsville to come to NC.

What im hearing is they want Shutty, and Shutty wants the job, but he is looking for a teachers job within the school district. The story i heard about Taranto is that he was coaching Jr. Hi last year and after an away game they left a kid behind and went home without him. After that Taranto resigned as jr. Hi coach.  Thats all that i heard about that. I heard Overdorff isnt being considered.

I do believe they would like to have Taranto back but as mentioned above I do not think he will be returning. Also Artley would have a difficult time coaching there, that's a long commute from blairsville to Nc each day even though he's originally from there
