Are there any others to look out for? What about from some of the local area schools...Bedford, Everett, NBC, Tussey?

Kim Cuppett of Ridge might be able to establish herself some this year, though I don't really look for her to be spectacular. But given a year or two to practice and get better, she could really do something, perhaps even come close to or better Stephanie Blackstone and give Megan Elder a good run for her money. The raw talent and running form seem to be good, but the work ethic remains to be seen. If she has that, look out!

I hear that Everett has the Weavers back. They might be running the mile, and perhaps one may try the two mile, though I see them more as middle distance than long distance runners. Also, Bedford has an Amy or Ashley Wilson I think, who finished first at districts for Bedford's Cross Country team. She had a time in the high 20s or low 21s I think, I'm not sure. But I know she'll be a legitimate threat this year in the longer distance events.

I could be wrong, but from what I heard, Ashley Wilson ran in the 19's during cross country. Bedford also has a freshman, Marissa Buterbaugh, she is a good distance runner. We'll see how it goes.

Ashley Wilson ran 20:15 at Districts, which was probably her best 5k time. Megan Elder from Berlin was consistently in the 19's until late in the season.

I think you're right about Ashley Wilson running in the 19s, but I don't know. She was definately in the 20s. Also, I just saw in the paper today that Jessica Donaldson of Tussey Mountain ran a 6:23, but it remains to be seen how competitive that will be with some of the 'top dawgs' in the area. She might get better, but who knows. Tonight, both Ridge and Bedford are running, so we'll see more on that tomorrow.

Today at the Bedford Invitational, I believe Megan Elder got 1st...if not, it was really up there like 2nd or so. She seems like a very valuable runner for Berlin. I was exteremely impressed....she is just a freshman right?

Also, Ashley Wilson from Bedford did really good. I read the times you all gave for her cross country. But anyone know some of her times for the mile or even the two mile?

I think Ashley Wilson ran a 2:45 for the 800 once this season (don't recall what meet right offhand, though Gunner should know), and Melanie Zack ran a 6:03 in the one mile and I think she ran in the 13:30s for the two mile.

Yeah, Megan Elder is just plain awesome and yes...she is only a freshman. I know she broke our school record in the 800 yesterday running something like a 2:29 and she also might have broken the mile record which was something right around 5:45. I know she ran something right around there. Yesterday was the first day I actually saw Megan compete. I'd watched her run at our meets, but never COMPETE. Yesterday was just grand.... :cheesy: That little freshman has got some guts, I tell ya.
