the reason that they lost the case is that there is nothing about it in the player's union/collective bargaining agreement (or whatever its called for the nfl). i doubt they will be able to stop those this year, but talks of putting it in the contract are becoming serious...preventing this from happening in future years. all in all, something has gotta be done.

I don't think they should change the age requirement in the NBA. I think you should know when you are ready to go pro. If you don't, that's your own fault. I think that if you feel you are ready no one should stop you. Why should Lebron have had to go to college? He could've had a career ending injury and got no money at all. Yes, he would get an education, but he can always get that after basketball. I think the players should know whether to go pro or go to college. If they don't, they can only blame themself.

like i said before, basketball is much different in physicality than football. lebron can handle himself on the court, but a fresh 18 year old is highly unlikely to be able to sustain the punishment in the nfl.

i agree that if a player wants to join the draft at 13 and he thinks he can play, all the power to him. he wont make it but that is his problem. i am saying that the league has a choice to make. they can choose to not let guys under 20 in the league because it is hurting the quality of play. nobody is/should be required to go to college, but considering that is where the best coaches are, it would seem like a good idea for a talented guy. the nba needs a minor league or something to provide an alternative for guys who shouldnt be in the nba but dont go to college.
about guys being at chance for getting hurt being an excuse for going to the nba so they dont miss out on the money, insurance is available to assure that guys with a lucrative athletic future are compensated if injured. remember willis mcgahee got that policy just before having his knee torn apart in the championship game 2 years ago.
