Chafardon is good, but I feel like feeding him humble pie. There's an eighth grader from Tussey who's gonna burst his bubble next year. Last I saw, he ran a 4:57 mile and a 2:08 (I think) 800 at a State College invitational. Donaldson was his last name. Ian Mitchell, the other guy, ran a 5:12 in the one mile, but in the two mile he won with a 10:56 I think. Pretty darn good for being all of 14 years old, if that.
And three years ago, Caleb Fritz of Northwestern place third (I think) in the AA section of states with a 4:26 one mile. He was a freshman that year. So well, there's good, and then there's the best. And I don't know if any distance runner from our area (District 5) is ever going to be the best, as far as states go. Donnie Sanner might have a shot next year, at placing in the 3200. Maybe even this year, but I wouldn't bet on it. District 5 is one of the worst as far as distance runners go.

fleflicker you have no idea what ur talking about the boys from tussey are 16 and donaldson is slower than ian. it used to be the other way around but ian did his homework, and past him up gut i know somebody that can beat Ian and donaldson within the next two yrs because this boy from ridge is right up there with them and he's only a freshmen. he made it to states his first year in x-crountry and killed Ian M. Jake Emrick is his name.

I know this is the D5 site, but....Sarah Strayer (Jake's sister) competed in states this year I believe in 1600 and 3200, and she's only a soph to be. She can only get faster.

As a HS Frosh in 1999, Shaler Area's Sam Bair placed 5th at the PIAA AAA meet in the 800m run. His best time that year was 1:53 for 800m and 4:16 for 1600m.
