Benson and Jeff Keppinger TRADED to the METS...
Re: Benson and Jeff Keppinger TRADED to the METS...
Amazing how all the anticipation of the Benson trade turned into such a "yawner". We got a limited potential 3Bman, another pitching prospect to go with our other dozen or so pitching prospects, and traded one of our top minor league prospect for another minor league prospect. Not the zinger trade most were expecting. This is one of those deals that doesn't look like a good deal, but it doesn't look like a bad deal either.
Every Pirate fan knows the best thing about the deal is we were able to get rid of Benson, who virtually wore out his welcome in Steel Town.

The easiest thing to do in sports is hustle.

I'm a big Bucco fan and I'm glad to see Benson leave, but what happens after this year?? Every year it seems the same....They get or develope good or great players and then they are gone. They have some good potential for the up coming years but will it stand? Every good player they get they always let them slip away. Does anyone think Oliver Perez, Craig and Jack wilson, or anyone else half decent on the team will be around to see the so called "turn around of pirated baseball?" Like I said I'm a big fan of the Pirates and I will stand up for them...but right now in my opinion they have the best "minor league" park in the country...and they might want to consider moving MLB outta Pittsburgh and into Altoona or something..But anyway go Pirates and Curve...just hope the Buccos get a little better soon...like we as fans were promised when they built PNC Park.

Couldn't agree with you more Duck. I love to watch Jack Wilson play, but enjoy it now while he's still in a Pirates uniform.

Well, they will all be around for a couple more years atleast. So hopefully with the 2006 All-Star game and maybe a wild card run within the next couple of years, they can get enough money to raise the payroll and keep the guys around. Or let's hope the guys are just old school and stay around 'cause they love Pittsburgh.
