I don't act like I'm all knowing. Sheesh. I'm just taking a guess at how a kid might do for this year, and everybody pounces on me. Why don't you go beat up on Gunner a little while?

That is good news. They beat Bedford pretty badly, and came within a few points of Forest Hills. How'd everybody do?
I heard that Ben Lieb was out from a broken rib suffered in a car accident, and I hope that he gets better soon. That would really suck.
Anyways, best of luck to all the Ridge kids for the rest of the season.

Well now, first of all, hello Ben. Next thing I hate to see how far down the competition is dropping. Whenever I ran, we had 5 times a better team than the current ridge team and we could still barely beat Bedford. we could never touch Forest Hills with them having Jake Strayer and all. I do love the success that this year's team is having and enjoy looking at the results. And with that I will thank Logan for letting me in on this site as I love to be involved with all county sports

5 times a better team than this years ridge team? This team isnt great but are very good. They are definately a better overall team than any other in ridge's short history. top 5 under 20. dont think that has happened before. the competition is still very good. just lacks strayer and mock being head and shoulders above everyone else which is good for every other team in the area.

First of all I was on that team. My time?? If you must know 17:16(not the school record that I got the year before but close enough) David Brailler was on that team. His best time was around an 18:12.(Still better than showalter this year) Then somewhere in there we had a Ben Oldham, Logan Showalter, Logan Horne and a few others I'm sure I'm not thinking of right now. Trust me when I say that the competition isn't as strong. Yes Strayer and Mock are gone, but what about the runners from mccort and blairsville?? The trio of good runners from somerset is gone. What about cambria Height's Ronan that went to the state meet a few years ago? They have no one to step up. Richland doesn't have the talent they once had. Lets move up a step to the AAA level.(Would be AAAA but thats not in xcountry) Altoona's best runner is a 17:30?? hollidasburg's is at 18?? what is that about? Ok back down to AA level. Sure meyersdale got sanner, what else? Nothing against this years team they are doing great for themselves, its just the competition has fallen off.

Hello Justin. I don't think that team was quite as good as you recall, though I remember running with you and Dave Brallier in cross country my sophomore year. You were the main spectacular on that team though, and always around the mid to high 17s if I recall. Last year we also had a very solid team I thought, with our top five guys at districts coming in under 20 (me, Logan Showalter, Ben Lieb, Ernie Ickes, and Sasha Kaeurt). I don't really remember how we did my junior year, aside from beating Bedford a few times.
Right now I'm glad to hear that they're doing well, and competing with Forest Hills and Bishop McCort, even if Jake Strayer and David Mock (Westmont) graduated last year. Those two guys were flying at the state track meet in the two mile, and finished one and two I remember. Very impressive. Even so, Forest Hills and Westmont have traditionally had great depth. During my first year of cross country, we had five or six guys running, maybe seven, and those two teams would have twenty to twenty five people. And they always had some pretty darn good runners up there with them as well.

So I'm happy for this year's team, and I hope they do well. And I think Logan Showalter should be able to get into the mid to high 17s by the end of the season, which would be really cool. I know that he has some natural ability, but he also works hard for whatever he gets, and is willing to give his all, as are most all members of the cross country team. I respect that, and hope they continue with their recent success.

Alrighty, here happens to be the results of a meet before your time ben.

It was between Richland and Ridge in 1999.

1. Guydo 17:44 Richland(R)
2. Ickes 18:16 Chestnut Ridge(CR)
3. Butler 18:33 R
4. Guydo 18:55 R
5. Mickle 18:56 CR
6. Vargas 19:03 CR
7. Heming 19:13 R
8. Brallier 19:15 CR

Then other Ridge runners were
14. Imler 19:35 CR
19. Markel(AWESOME SPRINTER) 21:33 CR
24. Dishong 25:07 CR
I love my scrap book 'o' newspaper clippings!!
How is that team not better?? Alright we only managed that one race and then Vargas broke his arm and Imler only managed to be with the team for a couple more races. That was before your time Ben. So don't talk about things you don't know about. I will admit that we only did that once and this current team does it day in and day out except for yesterday.(Only Showalter was under 20) Did you even know we had runners like Jose Vargas, Justin Mickle, and Keith Gardener? We say bout Forest Hills losing Strayer what about their Beyer(best time i can find is 17:10) and Krestar(a 17:14)?? And Mock from Westmont does anyone remember Gonzalez from before him? What about Zarnesky and Illig from CC? I guess most of those fabolous runners where too old for you to remember. Oh and about me being in mid-high 17's I was normally in low 18's but busted off 4 times under 17:25 with 17:13 being my best and our schools best ever.

so first you say that your team was five times better, then you show one race result and say yourself that it only happened in one meet. Not a good support for your argument.
I do agree that it does hurt the area that Strayer and Mock are gone but there will always be someone else to step up.
Westmont has Eanes, Meyersdale has Sanner, McCort has Rosko, PV has Brooker

The ridge team this year has been consistently improving. I think that they are the best or one of the best that CR has had in its short history.
