the cost of running the stadium lights alone for soccer games is much higher than they would ever make at the gate and thus a waste of taxpayer money.

games are what, 4$ a parent, 2$ a kid? how much can it possibly cost to run the lights for 2 hours? I dont see how it could cost more than 40$ a night, and i think that NBC could pull in at least 10 parents per game.

There are many issues here. Let me address some in hopes of educating some people on "why" things are done the way they are:
First, there is one football field and 2 soccer fields that are usable for games. The SHL schedules Boys Soccer primarily on M/W and the Bed/Somerset "Scheduling Consortium" schedules Girls Soccer for T/R. There are, obviously some "off-night" non-league contests.
Mondays and Thursdays are JV and JH football nights. When they are home it's a no-brainer who uses the stadium. There's no choice.
The next issue is field overuse. It is important to be realistic and not "overschedule" the stadium. It's best if you allow some off-days where no activities take place in case you have a foul weather event or later in the season when the grass isn't as fertile. With that in mind, notice that 7th grade games (foot) are now primarily doubled up with JH games and 8th grade games in football are now primarily doubled up on Monday's with JV. That is to protect ALL of the football fields in the ICC, as per agreement by their Athletic Directors.
The same philosophy is true with Soccer. When doubleheaders can be arranged, and no conflict with football since they only have 1 field, they are played. This is better than playing a girls soccer game on the stadium one night and a boys game the next from two standpoints: 1. Field gets a "day off" 2. It is responsible to the taxpayers as the lights only go on once, and one set of event workers are payed rather than two...it is also a responsible decision for the fans who pay one price for two varsity games.
It is not always easy to arrange these soccer doubleheaders. It means somebody (girls or boys visiting team) has to play 2-days in a row, and it's not always easy to get them to agree to play on an otherwise "off night" that might cause a back-to-back situation where they are traveling for a night game one day and turning around and playing 4:00 the next.
I personally do the SHL Boys Soccer schedule and I have worked with the Som/Bed Girls Soccer scheduler (AD at Rockwood) on corresponding dates for NB v Evt, Evt v CR, and CR v NB to make these doubleheader opportunities "automatic"
As for the other arranged doubleheaders, it took schools agreeing to move games off the assigned dates in many cases to create a Boys/Girls doubleheaders and they could only be attempted on dates when there was no home football.
Hopefully if your analyzing this with an open mind, it's not just as easy as scheduling a pile of soccer games in the stadium...there are a lot of issues to be dealt with in arranging schedules.
Budgetary-wise, in case someone wonders, Our first home foot. game netted $4,600 in ticket sales. By comparison, a well-attended Soccer DH vs Everett at NB netted about $650. I merely state these for comparison purposes, although having some importance, the primary importance to me in scheduling events is the best interests of the kids and the facilities.

im not saying play all the games at the stadium...just the big rivalry games...when Bedford goes to everett, we ALWAYS played on the football field...because it provides a better atmosphere for the rivalry and generated more money from tickets. i can understand about not wanting to over use the field but if its maintained right, then a few extra games shouldnt hurt, especially when you combine 7th, 8th, jr high, and jv football like you stated. i really didnt intend to start an argument or anything by this, i just figured that such a high profile game would be played on the better of the 2 fields. (its high profile because NBC has already beaten the other county teams so this game could in a way decide the best team in the county.

I think HR was just giving everyone a full understanding of the situation. And I am sure you equally appreciate it along with the others. Its good to have HR to explain things.

The Girls Co. Cup is tonight, there was no availability of a girls game to double with this game. I was able to get F.Road Boys to double with Bedford girls for a mid-October Doubleheader. Would have been nice to double-it but Bedford boys are locked into their LHAC schedule and we are locked into ours. It was definitely looked into...Other dates didn't work and no doubleheader games could be secured.
And gunner, I used to be the AD at Everett....Bedford Did not always play night games at Everett....only when it could be arranged to fit all 4 teams schedules. The first ever Stadium game at Everett was in the mid-90's when I was able to arrange and Everett-Bedford doubledipper for Soccer. It was continued most years after that, although at least once if not twice, for whatever reasons it couldn't be arranged. Mr. Koontz has continued that tradition as much as possible in scheduling since I have moved on and I know he puts a high priority on county games being played in the stadium just as I do at NB. This one just didn't work and it would have made 3 consecutive nights of field use at the stadium (something I avoid) anyway with Football Friday and Co. Cup Soccer Saturday.
I have probably overexplained this...Just want others to understand what all goes into this...it's not as simple as it might appear to be on the surface.

If I recall correctly, the first boys soccer game under that lights was against NB and that was the only home night game. We may have played Bedford at Bedford uner the lights that year though. But I know the Everett boys get pumped up to play on the football field and actually have a chance for people to get to watch them...particularly when we play Bedford.

4Him...Your correct! It was NB...the Bedford DH was 2 or 3 days later on a week when no home football was at Warrior Stadium which made it feasible to move the soccer goals from the elem. Boy the custodians didn't like me for that one!!

And I believe that was NB's last true quality team before their poor streak...until now of course. Those were the days of Nick Sorrells, Justin Reasy, and that Stevens kids. I think NB won the County League that year and may have made a run at Districts.

Was that in 1998 cause I think Hyndman went 6-0 that year against the county......maybe your talking about the year before but I remember playing against that Sorrells kid me and him were tied for most goals in the county that was when they had stuff liek that in the paper.
