Baseballstar22: You played for Delweld? And you are stating that your teams best pitcher and TEAMMATE Walyko suck. What does that say about you as an individual if you are talking about your own teammate who I believe did not lose in the Colt league this year as a 15 year old pitcher...pretty far from sucking I'd say.
There is a good bit of talent coming back up through the Johnstown system in the next couple of years. I'd expect the level of high school baseball to improve as well as these kids are playing for our local schools.
All these named pitchers are very talented, but all have a lot to learn about pitching and the game of baseball. Walyko and Verostick are very committed to baseball and each have a lot of talent. They both play year round.
Watkins has a world of talent, just needs to work on some mechanics and learn how to pitch.
Mehall, again, has just as much talent as any of the above. Lack of motivation is what hurts Dave. If he made a committment to himself, his team, and any sport whether it be football or baseball, he would be unbelievable. Work ethic is lacking however, and that hurts him a great deal.
All of these kids have the possibility of earning a pitcher's from this area's greatest honor, pitching on opening night of AAABA. Their work ethic, attitude, and committment to the game will decide who the great pitchers will be and who the never was's will be.
Good Luck to all of our future baseball players out there.

yes i dont think he is as good as people think he is...and anyways i didnt lose a game when i pitched either so that shows it wasnt that hard to pitch down there because i am not that good of a pitcher....i am more of a hitter then anything and i am a good infielder.I mean for me i didnt think cj threw hard at all...and i am a good fastball hitter. But this is just what i think...i know a lot of other people will think different but i dont really care.

We'll the fact that the lack of talent was true of the colt leauge, and the fact that verostick was playing injured the majority of the season resulted in why he threw decent and not up to his potential, and the fact that deleweld wasnt really all the hype they were up to. Bobby Helman, known for his hitting, could only really hit pull, and never pushed the ball. He may be able to hit fastballs, but it is easy to pick up his strong and weak points. In other words once people figure out where he can and cannot hit, he will be finished. Principle Development should have taken the league easily. They lacked teamwork and somewhat of leadership. If they could have pulled it together, there should have been no reason for them to lose a game. By the way, Doug Zubal sucks.

well i never thought bobby helman was a good hitter at all..but i can def. agree with u that doug zubal sucks that kid is one of the worst hitters i have ever seen in my life...and he is a terrible pitcher...in a jv tournament i hit a homerun of him on the first pitch he threw to me....and i still dont think cj is that good of a pitcher but thats just what i think

Verostick is a very streaky pitcher, he's decent one game, walks 11 the next, and then strikes 10 out the game after that.
Mehall should not specialize in just baseball or just football.. let the kid play some ball and have some fun. He can dominate in one sport when he's 19 if he so chooses, even if it's dominoes.
Walyko went to a special school in Florida last year and didn't improve much. He may throw 70 mph, but he's not effective enough to be a AAABA League pitcher.
Watkins if good, young and has lots of potential. He'll dominate in high school and Colt League in 2006, and I'm sure he'll be quality baseball prospect when he's 20.

baseballstar22 you must be the most amazing thing around. Just because you had a hit off of one guy and a homer off of another guy doesn't make him terrible. Every pitcher is going to give up hits. It happens. You talk about throwing hard the greatest thing. Yes, speed always helps, but the kid who hits his marks and has a good change up will beat the other who only had a heater and throws it everywhere.
