Mock's an excellent runner, but I respectfully disagree that he has teh speed to run 4:00 (or 3:42.3 for 1500m).
A 4:00 miler pretty much has to have 50.0 400m speed and should be able to run below 1:50 for 800m.
Mock can do neither. My best guess is that Mock could run maybe 51.8 for 400m and 1:53.5 for 800m, not quick enough to get to 4:00 for a mile.
In order for Mock to break 4:00, he'd have to get out in 1:58-1:59 and come back in 2:01-2:02, I don't think he could do that. He certainly couldn't get out in 2:04 and come back in 1:56 either.
Bair, with his :48+ 400m and 1:49.5 800m speed could easily go out in 2:03 and come back in 1:56.
However, I do see Mock as having the potential for averaging around 4:30 per mile for a 5000m on the track, which will bring him home around 14:10 for 5000m.
That said, Mock's doing exceptionally well at W and M and will have a great career there.

agreed there titan and i see your point of view but like we said before he's got plenty of time to develop into a better runner!
for instance brian sell who graduated from my school only had a 4:28.5mile in high school but ended up running a 4:01 in college even though he only did that one year and that was his freshmen year!
sell is a much longer distance runner specializing in 10k's, 20k's, and just missed making it to the olympics this past year in the marathon!
he has the 2nd best marathon time right now in the usa with a 2:09. 9 only seconds behind 1st in the nation and recent olympic silver medalist meb keflezeghi! so it all depends on who you are, what your drive is and when you start to breakout in your running career and sell is a perfect example as he only gets better with age! he is 26!

I know that this is a little bit off, but what about Chris Spooner's day at states last year. Only bring this up since he ran against Mock. What a stud. Don't remember what his 1600 time was but he won it fairly easily, ran a 1:46 split in the 3200 relay (state record, slowest guy ran a 1:56), and then anchored the 1600 relay coming back from 6th place to finish second. cant remembe that split either. Quite an impressive day.

Spooner's 4x8 split that day wasn't 1:46, are you on crack???
He ran a 1:52 800m split in that race.

yeah thats what i thought it was was a 1:52 cuz they said he needed a 1:58 to break the record and he came back and ran a 1:52!
but his time in the 1600 was a 4:12 or 4:14 but pretty sure it was a 4:12
he is a good runner but thats on the other side of the state!
cuz if thats the case then craig miller is better then all of them including sam bair in high school cuz miller is only a junior and he beat the 1600m record held by bair in the 1600m so he has 2 more years to lower that record!

Yes, but you're forgetting something: Bair was injured his senior season and did not run at the PIAA meet.
Bair ran a 4:00 MILE split INDOORS and a 4:06 open mile indoors this past winter as a redshirt frosh.
I gotta believe that Sam could've run 4:05 for 1600m outdoors his senior year in HS.
We will see if Miller can break Paul Vandergrift's PIAA 1600m record of 4:03.22 in the next 2 years...
FYI, I finished 20th at the PIAA AA XC meet my senior season, and the champ that year was.......Paul Vandergrift.
That said, Miller is something else. He has a world of talent.
Actually, Sam hasn't run a really fast race for 1500m/mile yet this spring. His best time thus far for 1500m outdoors has been 3:49, which equates to a 4:06 mile. I expect Bair to be in the mid to low 3:40s before the end of May in the right race with good weather. The NCAA East Regional 1500m qualifying time is 3:48.21, so Sam still hasn't gotten it yet.
Spooner has run 3:47.7 for 1500m this spring already as a true frosh, so he's the real deal, too.
Sam will anchor Pitt's Distance Medley Relay in the Championship of America (ie-the hot heat) at Penn Relays this coming weekend.

thats awesome that sam bair is running that competitively! as of right now and i thought he set the record as a senior so thats news to me and spooner is the real deal! for him to be running those times already we could be looking at an olympian and to think i had the privaledge to run against him my senior year of high school!
what year did you graduate there titan?
