what is the oldest weapon still in use today in the US Armed forces?

This isn't going to please LP, but neither. One party sees nothing wrong with executing lots of people, some who may be innocent, and also sees nothing wrong with sending young men to Iraq to die in a war that isn't worth fighting.
The other party sees no problem with banning guns, therefore making normal civilian people defenseless, and stealing money (in the form of taxes) from those that work hard to earn their money.

But anyways, LP, let's try and keep that stuff on the political forum. If you're a history buff, why not put down a question about history? Besides, it's rather obvious the answer that you are looking for (not necessarily the correct one, at least in my mind).

Anyways, to reiterate my question: Who wrote the Canterbury Tales, and when did the author begin writing it? Each individual part is worth 30, but if somebody can get both, it's 100 total.

Geoffry? Chaucer and started writing between 1380-1385 depending on the year he was born, believed to be somewhere around 1340-1345.

The year isn't quite right, but it was Chaucer. If you can still get the year right (exact year) on the next try, I'll give you the other 70. Oh, and net searches aren't cheating, just so you know.

I'll give somebody who has ever taken Senior English 100 points if they can tell me what the Canterbury Tales are even about. And...NO INTERNET CHEATING.

Geez - now you're putting rules around the questions. What is this, communism? j/k - but I'll still give the 1,000 points for the correct answer.

LOL. Good one soccerchick. If I remember, it's a story of travelers on their way to a cathedral (however you spell it), and the host proposes that to pass time, they have a story telling contest. Each person draws straws to see in what order they tell the stories, and each person gets to tell two. Beyond that, each story is about a different thing, and we never see the ending because Chaucer never was able to finish the tale (and tell us what this whole thing is about) since he died about halfway through writing the book.

As far as internet cheating, I didn't look that up (I had Canterbury tales during my senior year as well), but I wonder how one would enforce the internet cheating rule, as I don't think you could tell one way or the other.

I'm not putting rules down on the questions asked, just trying to keep this thread from turning into a whole political debate thing. And thanks for the points offer, but I don't need any. According to you, the answer would be the Republican party, but I honestly think that no party has the market on morals.
