so lance lost the yellow jersey...but it's no big deal...after this stage in his previous tours he's only held the yellow once. He's been as low as 16th after this stage. He'll get it back.

He'll definitely get it back - I mean they've only really started the climbing stages.

He wanted to lose the yellow jersey so that he didn't have to use his team's resources to defend the lead this early on. Doing that would drain his riders so that they wouldn't be able to help him defend his lead as much in the later stages, where Lance will need their help the most.

Armstrong takes control of Tour as Valverde takes stage

JULY 12 - Alejandro Valverde (Illes Baleares) won the 10th stage of the Tour de France held over 192.5km between Grenoble and Courchevel Tuesday, edging Discovery's Lance Armstrong at the line as the Americans biggest challengers were left struggling on the day's final climb. Overnight race leader Jens Voigt, of the CSC team, lost the yellow jersey to the American after finishing well behind the pace on the first day in the Alps which featured two Category 1 climbs and the first summit finish of the race....

Lance's main competition has fallen well behind, but Lance stated that he expected them to bounce back, and that he would be the last one to write them off. As they say, it ain't over til the fat lady sings.

Also, Valverde, according to Armstrong, could be the next big thing in bike racing. Apparently Lance thinks he has the potential to win a few tours. Certainly winning Stage 10 on his first tour is a pretty good showing.
