TAE, that's exactly the problem at Pitt. Wansplat is too conservative to throw the ball, even when that's what the team he has inherited at Pitt is geared to do. Pitt needs to throw the ball to win, but since Wanny wouldn't let them throw, they couldn't win. If Wanny let's Palko loose, it's almost already too late to make a bowl, because Pitt would need 6 of the next 7 to definately make a bowl game. I know they already have a win over YSU, but I doubt the NCAA really cares to have a 6-5 team with a winning record only because of the I-AA.

fleaflicker-the ncaa may let a 6-5 weak pitt team in over a 7-4 c-usa or mac team for two reasons. One all the bowls are worried about is $ and pitt will bring more in than say a Northern Illinios or even a Memphis.
Secondly if pitt wins five games (which is how many they will need to win to get bowl eligable) in the big east their will probably be a guaranteed bowl for them because they will be second or third in the big east.
I am not sure if pitt can win six games playing West Virginia, Louisville, and South Flordia but at least it gives the players something to play for over the next few weeks.

Remember the BCS controversy last year with Pittsburgh getting their behinds kicked by Utah. If Pitt goes 6-5 this year, the bowls would have to be desperate to invite them. If I were a bowl director, I would rather invite a 7-4 or 8-3 MAC or C-USA team that actually played good football and will bring in more people than Pitt, depending on the opponent. Pitt has already shown it can lose to Ohio U and Rutgers. If they put together a 6-5 season, I don't see them getting invited. However, at this point, with the best they can do being 7-4 (assuming they win out), they won't even get to .500 this year. No way they're going to beat West Virginia, South Florida, and Louisville, or even two of the three.

Ohio State, not a team that just became I-A 3 years ago.
I love it, you've gone from cutting down PSU saying they are a cellar-dweller in the Big 10 to 'insulting' us that Ohio State will beat them for the Big 10 Title. THAT REALLY REALLY HURTS!

You shouldn't be so sensitive! I wasn't trying to insult anyone. I was simply stating my prediction for the Big 11 this year.
Relax, and stop turning every post into something about Pitt. You have an awful obsession!

This is what I like: All the PSUers are crawling out from under their logs...They think because PSU is 5-0 they're a great team. Their scheduled has been horrendous. If they can beat tOSU tonight (GUARANTEED there will be a man named GUMAN in black and white stripes on the field), then, I will up grade them to being a good team...

Cincinnati is absolutely horrible, even worse than Pitt, if possible. The Panthers nearly doubled up on them despite (still) mainly sticking to the running game.
