Curtis Enis was suspended from the 1998 Citrus Bowl, along with Joe Jurevicius. Enis for accepting a gift from a booster (a suit) and Jurevicius (academics).

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/footba ... 1/bowlday/

From that page:

"Penn State tailback Curtis Enis, was bumped from the game because of his unsuitable dealings with an agent. "

and

"Without Enis and the Nittany Lions' leading receiver, Joe Jurevicius, out because of academic problems, Penn State's streak of four straight New Year's Day wins are in danger. "

Arguably PSU's two best players, PSU is beaten by Florida 21-6.

Suspended for grades???? You're a teacher. That's a given in any sport, from junior high to college!!!! And Enis was caught with his pants down. Albeit they were NEW pants. Paterno HAD NO CHOICE in that case. NEXT???

I'd say that sending your star player home shows principles. Paterno lets them play, then discusses it later.[/quote]

You're quote...

"You are quote" is what you are saying? And you teach? Hope it isn't English.

Enis and Jurevicious were NOT sent home. They never even went to the bowl site. Everything was all said and done before the trip.

Sorry King Fact Checker and Defender of the Queen's English, but I went to Pitt. Nice how you didn't answer my question.

THEY DIDN'T PLAY because of violating some rule or another. Who cares if they made the trip or not (other than US AIR), the fact is that JoePA benched them from the bowl game, something that you said he never did. It would have made zero difference had the allegations against Enis came while the team was in State College or at the bowl game.

They were not sent home!!!! Get it???? And their crimes were too obvious for Paterno to hide from the public. Poor grades is a death sentence which cannot be overlooked. Taking gifts from boosters cannot be ignored either. But Bowden sent a player home on an ACCUSATION. Before a trial or before he was proven guilty. Paterno would NEVER do that. His kid would play, with the trial set for later!!! It's already happened.
