For those of you defending Paterno, do you believe his comments were appropriate?

I don't think he should lose his job over the comments, but a simple apology saying that he should have chosen his words more carefully would go a long way.

i agree that his comments were not appropriate, but they were true. It's human nature in a young man, your hormones are running, and seriously think back, a good looking girl knocks on your door do you let her in or just slam the door in her face?

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

I will make my judgement once more is found out about what happened. I think the girl was probably a groupie. I really don't think Nicholson "raped" her or more would be going on nationally with it.

What did Joe know when he made the comments? He knew that the kid had been suspended from the team and was accused of sexual assault. To be apologetic for someone accused of such a crime without knowing for sure that he is innocent is bad judgement. Maybe JoePA is incapable of admitting to poor judgement.

Maybe Joe knows more about the situation then the public?

This person has not be accused of anything, and may never be. He was (perhaps still is) being investigated. The legal difference between the two is night and day.

I think what Joe was getting at in part: You have to be careful before you lable anyone a "rapist", for even if you're found innocent, that's a charge that you really never escape.

I'm thinking the lady was Joe's wife. She wanted to go distract the Florida State players because he knew his team was overrated and would need to take out one of their best players to pull it off in triple overtime.

If Sue really wanted to get them, she could just slip something special into her lasagna.
