Like the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink. Its mainly up to the kids themselves. I doubt that Jim Clark is the problem

Jim Clark is hardly the problem. The problem with all of Ridge's athletics is that too many athletes who were good in the jr. high. ranks don't come out for the Varsity sports. What makes it better is that most of them have the audacity to show up at the events and watch the teams. Look in the student section and you'll see five students that you'll recongize as good JR High wrestlers. I have been a ridge follower for years and i could easily make a list of great athletes that never competed in varsity.
two reasons for this.
1. No pride - The thought of being on the JV team digust them. Unless they are handed something they won't try to compete.
2. Most parents in Ridge are pin heads who think its okay to let their children be worthless losers.
As long as the Ridge population stays this way there will always be people to pump my gas.

So do you think the rumor is true that everyone has been hearing about the anorexia thing? I hope to god it is not true, it is actually too serious to be joking about at all.

Ridge Wrestlers are NOT anorexic!!! Some good junior high wrestlers do have a problem with sitting the bench their sophomore year because they can't break the line up. But on that same note, some of them do get into the lineup and get "waxed" their first year and figure they don't want it any more. Who really knows why, talk to the wrestlers!!! We can all sit here and guess until we are blue in the face.

What rumor are you talking about? I have not heard any rumors about Ridge wrestlers being anorexic. Do people even know what anorexia is?

I think this is a rumor that justwrestle wants to start. The team is not anorexic. I know several of these wrestlers and have seen them eat. They don't have eating disorders.

I think it is more along the lines of what beingjustme has said. Wrestling is a tough sport and a lot of these kids have been wrestling since elementary. I'm sure many of them get tired of it and want to do something that doesn't require such discipline.

I also can see some truth in what deliverance said about the lifting. The football program revolves around lifting and getting bigger.

What wrestlers don't look anorexic beside heavyweights. Every coach has their wrestlers losing as much weight as possible. It's called putting yourself in the best position to win a championship. I was 5"8' in my sophomore year in high school and wrestled 103 pounds. Does that make me anorexic? A doctor has to certify you, so I don't think it makes you anorexic by making a certain weight to help yourself win.

anorexic, i wouldn't go that far, but the "art" of losing weight for wrestling, in my opinion, could be considered a voluntary anorexia. Like all eating disorders, anorexia is a disease of the mind, these wrestlers aren't diseased, just mandated to lose the weight. I think that you have to have at least a little something going crazy in the mind to want to do that to yourself, lol.

Blue Ribbon that is a pretty bold statement for you to make about Chestnut Ridge parents, I think you have no right to say that. Are you a wrestler? Maybe you were but couldn't handle it. Be careful what you say...it may come back and bite you......someday!
