Crissey is on full scholarship @ WVU as is Turkovich @ Notre Dame.

Shane Fox plays DI ball on a scholarship along with Troy and Derrick Harris, and that's just within the last 4 years from ONE local school.

Thats my point my bdftbman.....exactly my point....

and to your questions about the WPIAL....lmao....are you seriously comparing Bedford County to the WHIPS? How many AA schools are in the WHIPS? comparing Bedford County AA to the Whips is crazy.

This is like comparing the population of Pittsburgh (and suburbs) to the population of Bedford County......lol...oh wait...*snap....that is exactly what you are doing.

MORE KIDS = MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ATHLETES

Never ever...compare the ICC or any other conference in our area to the Whips. They are far more superior. Want to argue? Look at the past 10 years of state semi-final games...and hail to the victors.

AA is AA and A is A there is no diff, same amount of healthy boys to choose from take 100 boys who live in Bedford county and 100 boys who live in beaver county and one boy from bedford county will be able to chew gum and walk at the same time and the kid from beaver county just may win a heisman, but hey, riding a four wheeler and chewing snuff at the same time, Bedford county will rule every time.

Good one, D-nice. But that kid from Bedford who can ride a four wheeler and chew snuff at the same time could surely kick your tail. With his shotgun in hand, he'd have you running back to the WPIAL in no time.

Once again...

How many AA schools are there in Beaver County?

You are saying there are just as many kids in Beaver County as in Bedford County...

Here is a thought...go visit some of these other Countys and areas you speak of...

see how many houses and students there are....

How close the schools are...

If you honestly believe that Bedford and Beaver have anything in common besides starting with "B's"...then you are a.....

More people per area....

So your telling us, D-Nice, that Aliquippa = Chestnut Ridge and Duquesne = Hyndman, right?

The two kids G'will referred to were actually in '94 and '95 and one starred at Penn State before being cut by the Cleveland Browns while the other, from another Single "A" BedCo school went the Baseball route.

I did'nt even calculate the ability to carry a shotgun, while four wheeler-snuff chewing, I would'nt run back to the wpial I would drive a car on the turnpike with my E-Z pass, and four wheelers are not permitted, so...once again I win.
P.S. I will be in Bedford county Sunday and Monday, visiting in-laws. that would be your best opportunity to get you a posse together, and string up the city slicker!

NO. Chestnut ridge has about 100 to 150 more boys in their high school than aliquippa does. so therefore why could aliquippa destroy Ridge or Bedford on any given night? That is all I'm saying. not how many schools..but how boys there are in those schools each, It's the same as bedford county. but you could form an all-star team from bedford county and still get whupped by aliquippa.

Once again some people don't have their facts straight. So I'll state it here again.

1. Ridge was faced with a difficult situation because the LHAC was going to an all-sports conference when Ridge and Bedford joined it was in football only. I think I recall that Bedford was independent before joining the LHAC and Ridge got kicked out of the ICC (HR I'm sure will correct me if I'm wrong!)

2. None of the other sports at Ridge (except wrestling that was indifferent) wanted to join LHAC all-sports conference.

3. So the decision was made to go to the ICC that included teams in leagues in other sports that we already played.

4. So the choice had to be made or go independent in football which in the age of conferences was not an option.

5. I been a coach at CR since 1993 was on the "in" through the whole process and this is how I remember it.

6. Personally I was indifferent to the move my point was that all sports teams should compete in the same conference and at the time I coached three different sports.

7. Other people can say what they want but that's how it happened. End of discussion!

I totally agree with you South Paw, and I am positive I mentioned this in the orginal article.

"Fall of 2000

School Board and community speakers protest the schools involvement in the LHAC (Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference). They decide to drop LHAC as the athletic conference and move to a less respected conference, I.C.C. (Intercounty Football Conference). To my understanding this was to avoid from having all sports being part of the LHAC. In my opinion, Chestnut Ridge could have competed in almost every other sport, so this perspective was based solely upon the football program."

As you can see, I stated "in my opinion" when referring to the other sports. In my mind I feel that we could have competed in such sports as wrestling, softball, baseball, vollyball, basketball, and succer. And why not? We will play them in the first or second round of the playoffs anyway?
