First, I have nothing special against West Virginia except that I am not a fan. On my dislike scale, I put Penn State and Michigan much higher. However, I don't want to talk smack about Penn State the week before the Ohio State game and Michigan does not often come up in discussion. My only problem with WVU is that I am not sold on them as an elite team, maybe I will be by the end of the year. I just remember them being hyped up in the past and they never seem to meet expectations when much is expected of them.

Second, I don't see how conferences can be judged in mid-September. It is difficult to even judge teams. Louisville might be great, but if Miami goes 5-6 this year, the Louisville home win looks less impressive. Michigan looked awesome at Notre Dame, but what if Notre Dame goes 6-5? Pitt was beaten by MSU, but MSU could be very good this year with a senior QB.

Have a Playoff and/or have big super conferences!! Nobody said anything about West Virginia being an elite team as of yet but They look pretty good with some very talented players!! Look at their roster not a senior dominated team either!! How do you judge an elite team? Letssssss Goooooo Mountaineers!!

WVU is an elite team in a weak conference. I'll come out and say it, and I'm a Texas fan. If Ohio State makes it to the National Championship to play WVU, it will be a good one.

I'm not picking on you, Holly, but the Superconference idea is a mistake. Lets say we make 3 conferences with 20 teams in each (or whatever). What about the other 60 teams? They might as well drop to I-AA, because they are clearly going to be I-A Junior. You need to have a ladder system where teams can advance and drop in conferences, where Louisville's success can be rewarded by them being invited to a BCS conference, and Temple's lackluster program going to a non-BCS conference. That's the ideal system, in my opinion, where small-conference teams do well over extended years and get invited upwards. But if you choose to leave 60 teams on the outside, why would you even watch those games? They have ZERO chance to win anything at all, at least now you technically have a SLIM chance of going unbeaten and busting the BCS.

As for WVU... I'm sorry, but I just do not see the powers-that-be selecting WVU for a national title bid over a team that played actual opponents. That sucks for WVU's players and fans. Send your thank-you cards to your AD, who CHOSE that schedule.

It is way too early to be thinking of the national championship game!! You have to take it one game at a time. Nobody knows who is going to play in the national title game, if you can then please tell me who it is going to be. Yes a super conference would work out, I am not saying just one conference I am saying many regional ones with an alternating schedule every year! Letsssssss Goooooooo Mountaineers!!

4 - 16 team superconferences would do the trick With conference championships early Dec., Semifinals Jan. 1 in Bowl games and Championship week and a half to two weeks later.

64 teams would "make the cut" Other Div. I's (call them IA-subdivision)would drop to a new division and still get to play some games versus the big boys. They would have their own playoff and NCAA would come up with stipulations for reevaluating who belongs where thus IA-subdivision teams could replace superconference teams every 2-3 years. Also I-AA's could replace I-A subdivision teams allowing for movement of teams over time among the Division I status's

Other alternative would be 8 conferences of 10 or 12 to get more teams involved and play Quarterfinals what was the weekend of conference championships (early Dec) and allowing losing teams to accept Bowl bids. Winners advance to Jan. 1 Semifinals in Bowls as above.
