Well I'm sorry mr. sportsfan -- i guess a three pointer to take the lead with 3 secs left followed by a half-court answered prayer to win the game at the buzzer isnt good enough for your obviously extavagant basketball appetite. I would try to get you a film of the game so you could watch this 'epic' contest (did i mention gowens ferocious two-hand slam) but you probably wouldnt even give it the time of day, considering that you dont seem to appreciate the basketball played by a 17-1 team whos only loss is by 3 to AAAA Hempfield. I guess we're all foolish for saying this game was exciting in any way, shape or form. Sorry sportsfan that my taste in bball games isnt quite as high as yours. (mind you, cc is doin all of this without shot blocker/game changer/6'9" freshman brian holsinger)

HEY SPORTY, Geez, who left to much pulp in your juice? These are high school kids for the most part. What do they know of "epic and heroic" ? In their young lives this is as exciting as it gets. If you were there you saw a tremendously exciting game with several unbelievable twists to the ending. What difference does either schools history or future have to do with that moment. For these kids it is all about the moment. They have one now they will not soon forget.

As a matter of fact, I was there, saw two ok teams play a very exciting game. I said it was exciting, what more do you want? It was definitely worth the drive out to the middle of nowhere. I enjoyed myself, and wish all the games were that exciting. But I watch games all over the state, and seeing a two handed slam is not something that is rare, and its only worth two points. Yes, it was exciting seeing the last two plays of the game and was a very fun game to watch. But epic? I could probably name five games this year that were more exciting that I've seen.

I'm not intentially bashing either of those teams, but I won't back down from my statement that neither team will make any noise in states. I've seen Highlands, Hampton, and Greensburg Salem in the WPIAL AAA. All three in my opinion would have no problem with CC, Johnstown, Indian Valley, or whoever comes out of D6AAA. I got a chance to watch General McClane out of D10 play and they have an excellent shot to win the state championship(also won the AAA football state title this year. Very amazing feet). And I didn't even mention any of the good teams out east like Franklin Learning Center, West York, and Red Land.

As for Central Martinsburg I dont think they will win the district title, let alone doing anything at states.

I'm not certain CC will win D6. IV or Jtown, if things fell right, could beat CC. One thing that has changed this year in D6AAA is that they are getting two teams in the states. The last few it was only one.

Is that true about the two teams from AAA getting in? If so, I'm quite glad bout that. Last years only getting one d6 team in while wpial gets 8 or so teams didnt seem to fair to me. Can you name the five games, though? sportsfan, i'd like to hear about them.

And i know dunks arent too rare in the HS bball scene. Believe me, i've been around my fair share of basketball in my rather young life. But for two teams who start no freakishly athletic kids and who havent had a dunk for them this year, a dunk is kinda cool to see. Yes, go to the wpial, philly, the wcac or wherever, and youll see a bundle of slams intertwined within the track meet of a game. Dunks are the most exciting play in the game. Theres no doubt. As the human highlight reel himself Vince Carter once said, "My coach used to tell me that two points is two points . . . . but he could never dunk."

Games that were more exciting to me that I've seen so far:

Aliquippa-Schenley
Greeensburg Salem-Hempfield
Norwin-Albert Gallatin
Altoona-State College (first game)
West York-Redland

Now, to the two schools involved, CC and Central, I'm sure it was very exciting to them. Again, it was very exciting to me as well, I'm not putting them down. But as an observer with no bias one way or another, ive seen some more exciting games, and I still say neither team will do anything at states. I've been wrong before, and for the sake of the fans of those two schools, I hope I'm wrong.
