Removed the "leader" did not help mccort...Salem realized his mistake and did not do it again...Although DeFrances could have been doing what he is doing now.

Obviously we have a troll. FalconHater's one and only post calling Don Bailey overrated. My first guess would be it's from a player or parent from FH that wasn't happy about this year's season (who could be) and obviously the fault must lie with the coach and not himself or his child.
Anyway, since it's here, let's address the issue. At the beginning of the season, there was a thread about which team (BM or FH) lost more talent. I'd say the jury has reached a verdict. FH had three kids returning that had name recognition. Kostan, Mehall and McCarty. They had lost all of their talent from the previous two years and were young and inexperienced in every position. What seniors they had, largely spent the last two years in backup roles and this year was their shot. I think we can also conclude that "great backs" are only as good as their line.
So lets look at this by class:
Seniors: Displayed a lack of leadership and seemed more concerned with whether they would get out of practice in time so that the wings would still be hot on their Thursday night wing parties.
Juniors: Several were fat and happy the first few weeks of the season, but started griping and indicating that they won't play next year once things didn't go their way.
Sophmores: Let's just hope they didn't pick up any bad habits observing the upperclassmen's behavior in practice and on the field ...
As I understand it, there was no QB controversy, the sophmore wanted the job and the returning junior really didn't want the job. Also, the Rearick/Mehall controversy has been blown out of proportion. There were alot of other issues involved besides just a starting QB role.

Don Bailey is a great coach with over 30 years experience. I dont know his career record and such but I would bet his win loss percentage is pretty impressive!

Mr. Don Bailey is overrated??? PLEASE! He is easily one of the top coaches in the area. He's been the one constant over the years when there have been so many successful teams, and this is one of the true down years but I think almost anyone who follows FH football or was recently on the team could have told you that there wasn't much in the senior class this year, I even heard rumors that Kostan was contemplating not playin at all! I mean, there was a little hope because they played BM so tough the first game and plus I believe the LHAC is down as a whole in talent this year. But just because it didn't happen doesn't mean we should turn on the Coach.
I think a new QB might have had somethin to do with the team's lack of success, but it's a little different than the situation in '04 with the Rearick/Mehall battle because the '04 team had other leaders on the team like Rolla and Maderia and many others whereas this year's team was in desperate need of leadership, and I think that why Bailey asserted his QB so early this year whereas in '04, I dont think Rearick was the actual starter til the 4th or 5th game.

I have to disagree with your assertion that "the LHAC is down as a whole in talent this year." There were some traditional powers (like FH and BC) that were down, but Westmont made a resurgence, and Somerset and Richland went from doormats to playoff teams. Plus the addition of BG (and subtraction of Central) upgraded the competition in the conference as a whole. I think the "talent" level was about normal, it was just located in different places.

:o Overrated......not at all. I think Don Bailey does a fine job. And as was stated before, he is a constant. If you look at the programs that have been successful over the course of the years the Head Coach has been there quite awhile.
Now don't go off saying, "the only reason he's been there so long is that he has been successful." I can remember back in the 80's when FH was struggling....did they fire Don? No they stuck with him. So I guess you have to give koodos to the FH Board of Education. They realize there is more to just winning football games.

Then Opie's quote in another thread:
"Instead of playing football at FH…we are currently busy getting our behinds kicked, throwing in the towel, and being involved in mailbox gate. Kudos on that one fellas."
And we all recall Opie's excuse errrrr, reason for last year's fh implosion " there was dissension among the ranks"!!!
It looks like Nitwit land ......has the game passed the coach by ? They regularly underachieve! the coach has been there since the late forties, etc, etc...

Ummm vman?
My remark about the Mehall/Rearick QB controversy was from the 2004 season. I believe OP was referring to last season (2006) in whatever other post you're reading.
