It has always been tough to separate Marvin from Peyton and throw him in with the big boys, but in this case no one made more big plays in more clutch situations at the reciever position than Varga. Is he the Charles Woodson of the LHAC IMO he gets offensive player of the year followed in a close second by Pecora DeFrances. Alltime I dont think anyone else was consistently a homerun threat. But had shawn lewis or andrew hawkins had the deep ball of DeFrances the possibilities could have been endless. Ever try and cover these guys coleman or wadley? I dont think anyone could do that!

My junior year i covered feaster every day at practice...I would rather try to cover two cruzs at the same time then cover feaster..cruz is tall so maybe throw him a jump ball but you cant even compare the two in speed or moves..feaster played tail back and had more recieving yards and tds then cruz did..I think that means something

How many of Crusz's catches were in the open field? Hardly any! They were all in the gap behind LBs and Safeties. That means your gunna get hit about half a sec. (based on how good the safety is) to make a catch. Sounds pretty tough to me! Ask that safety on PO what he thinks of Cruz, he gave him his best shot as the ball was being caught and cruz threw him off like a rag doll, then preceded to run 55 yards for the score. On D, he was a monster all night long, as #33 racked up sacks game after game b/c 1. because hes quick of the ball 2. he was facing the worser of the teams TEs(who were tryin to block Cruz). You think Cruz didnt want to be at DE- Goin one on one to get to the QB? Sure he did! But he played DT for the good of the Team. Sounds like a team player to me...

Varga broke the mccort td's in a career and most receiving yards in a career records in this season alone....I think that should settle any doubters that he is the best receiver in the LH. We can always say what if Hawkins had a great QB as well as Lewis...but Varga has the numbers and numbers don't lie

Well my original statement said that Varga and DeFrances were the most dominant duo so we could argue about who could have put up similar numbers with DeFrances throwing the ball to them forever, but the fact remains that they were lucky to have each other. As far as the best receivers many forget one of the best athletes to probably ever come out of Jtown or any surrounding area...Geroy Simon. Dude is Maryland's all time leader in receptions and has a CFL MVP under his belt. As far as duo's go- Arcurio to Schrey was pretty much automatic with Schrey being similar to Varga in his ability to get open and make the tough catch and Arcurio being a very good HS QB, but Schrey did not have the breakaway speed that some other names on the board do. And for you realfootball20... you obviously don't understand the game very well or you would not make statements like Cruz not being a top 25 player in the LHAC. As I said before he was probably underutilized as a receiver, and had he got 5-10 balls thrown his way a game he would have posted huge numbers- the kid has great hands and excellent feet for someone his size (maybe, just maybe this is why big name D1 schools are after him). Where is Feaster getting looks from??

As far as numbers not lying, just go back about 10-15 years when the competition in our area was REALLY good on the football field. To accomplish similar numbers back then was really a feat.

Moldy...I agree that there was a higher level of competition 10-15 years ago, but I don't remember teams running the spread offense like Richland or even throwing the deep ball as often as BM did this year so we probably wouldn't find anyone with numbers like Pecora & Fenton or DeFrances & Varga. Aaron Peterman from Westy is another name that sticks out in my mind from around that era since he was able to dominate in a fairly conservative offense against some very good LHAC teams.

What was so great about competiton 10-15 years ago? I understand the competition and talent level vary from year to year, but was it really THAT much different to say that having 1300 yards, 13 tds, and 7 interceptions, is not an unreal season. I'm sure if Adam Trout or Jake Oswalt had that kind of year it wouldn't be compared to 15 years ago, quit being a little girl and accept the fact that a McCort player had a great year. Actually, we can trade agreements...

In the 05-06 season Travis Rearick had a good season...

My turn???? Well, even TheTruth agrees that the competition was at a higher level 10-15 years ago. Let's face it, football isn't the same as it was back then. First of all, look at how many teams have gone down in class size over the years. Central Cambria, Penn Cambria, and even Cambria Heights were AAA then. Teams like United and Ligonier valley were AA. Inturn, there were more kids to pick from at each school district. That made football better. Forget about all that spread offense stuff, football was simply better. You didn't have any 0-9 teams then. Everybody was tough. Back then you didn't want to play Somerset or PC. That's just the way it was. We just went through this discussion about Lewis and St. Francis. When competition is down, you have to take statistics with a grain of salt. You simpy can't compare stats from then and now.
As far as passing duos are concerned, In the early '90's Brandon Bailey to Greg Myers was awesome. And you have to remember that he threw to Tim Baumgardner then too. Double trouble for defenders. IT was quite an achievement when Bailey accepted a full scholarship to WVU. Later Baumgardner went off to Fordham. And after Bailey came Justin Myers, who rewrote the record books at Geneva. During his senior year in 1994, Justin Myers to Brian Endler propelled FH into the state championship game. What a duo!!! Endler went on to start at Division I-aa Lehigh. Endler, as a sophomore in 1994, was named to the all-state team. That's when making the all-state team really meant something. Nowadays, with an all-state team for each of the 4 classes of football, it seems like everyone is all-state. Back in those days, you had a Big School all-state team and a Small School all-state team. It's ridiculous now how so many kids are rewarded for average play. Now you got 96 kids who make 1st team all-state for cripes sake. When some of these "new" kids start living up to their billing after high school, maybe we can talk about greatest area duos. Until then.....
