If Brown wasn't the OW, then that was a mistake. There's no way he shouldn't have been the OW after pulling an upset like he did. Also, I'm very interested in seeing how District 5 represents itself at Regionals. Roberts will win his weight class, but besides that, how will D5 do?

Also, I want to congratulate Preston Albright, Dan Sollenberger, and Quinton Hixson on winning District 5 Championships. You have joined an elite crowd.

171- In my mind Albright was the favorite to win the weight all weekend. The 2nd seed was well let's just say shouldn't ever have been a 2nd seed. A Bedford boy who is a 145 pounder was beating him bad and pinned him. Shade had better find some competition if they ever want to compete at districts. I have no idea who the must be wrestling to have records as good as they do. Anyway I agree 160 wasn't real tough either prob some more depth and I think Albright beating Dibert was an upset and really think Dibert wins that match now.

OW- Coaches just gave it to the best wrestler. It's hard to tell be how bad he beats everyone bbut 103 was a really solid weight. I mean without a doubt Replogle is usually a regional qualifier type kid. But 103 was solid.

I would have given it to Craig or Thomas. Craig for a 3 third seed with a big upset by pin. Thomas for domination of the weight but pretty much because he's from Bedford. I'm biased.

At least you admit being biased! I would have given OW to Craig. Big upset to win that one and getting the fall on top of the win should have been enough. Wasn't Suter a district champ last year? So IMO Craig pinning a returning champ should have been enough to get OW.

Suter was not a defending champion. He was a finalist two years straight though.

I think Roberts deserved the OW award. OW=Outstanding Wrestler

I think that you vote for the best guy there since that is what Outstanding means. Why pick a guy that wins in an upset? I'm happy for the kid, but what makes him outstanding? This is a tough award to give. How would Roberts ever have a shot at it because he's not going to upset somebody and he's going to be favored in all his matches?

Now, if the upset that Brown had was over a former state champ or even a guy that finished in the top 5, I see the argument more. Suter was the top seed, but he is giving up 20 pounds in his weight class. I'm not making an excuse for the young man, but I don't see how the Craig boy would get it either really. After having watched wrestling on Saturday, I felt the Berlin wrestler was favored in that match anyway.

The most outstanding wrestler at the tournament was Roberts and that's how my vote would have gone.

Will Dibert be able to win 3 or 4 district championships for Ridge?

What third place finisher has the best shot at advancing to states?

Are there brackets out yet for regionals?

Was there pizza available last night at Windber?

What bad calls did Jarrett make? I think he officated a pretty good tournament. he could have called a lot more stalls on Saturday, but i don't think he misses a lot of calls.

Beech did good as well. The only problem he has, is that he'll try to defend his call to a coach by looking at them or talking to them during a match and opens a door to get yelled at. Your not going to make many coaches happy when you call something against their kid. Thats why Pencil and Eich do a really good job, and everybody thinks they do a great job because they don't look or talk to a coach during a match.

I think when people see the D6 and D7 officials this year, we'll be grateful for the d5 guys.

some of those d6/d7 guys at Thomas this year we're awful...

wolftickets wrote:District 5... will not stand a chance at regionals except for Roberts... In regards to Roberts, when is he going to step it up and gain some weight and wrestle with the big boys? Being a two time champ at 103 will not get you into any big time wrestling schools! The kid is a awesome wrestler at 103, However, I wonder if he can dominate at a 125 or 130 weight class?
Not sure how to interpret this post? Are you saying D5 will have no 'champs' besides Roberts, or no kids moving on? I think it is a safe bet to say there will be at least a few d5 kids moving on, and that is kind of a slap in their face if you think only Roberts will advance. If you're talking champions, then you may have a point, although Thomas may be another one besides Roberts.

If D-5 has more than one reg. champ ill be surprized. I think the best shot is gonna be Lascari. I think that Alexander and Hough are just a little better Thomas but all three will medal at states.

I can pretty much agree with most of those.

160- Dibert will have to wrestle really well.
215- I think one of our finalists might get out.
125- Cahill could have a shot. He impressed me with his toughness against Lascari.
