Manfred wrote:My apologies to all those who don't have a life and are FORCED to read what I, in my infinite wisdom, post here. The past 3 or 4 pages of this thread got way off topic because I took exception to a certain post-er who wrongly accused me of criticizing a certain "kid". What kid? I said name him/ her. Prove what I said. When I pointed out his error and asked him to prove his accusation, which he couldn't do, the shift of his conversation got nasty. He called another post-er a disrespectful immature name, and when I pointed out the myriad differences in our ways of thinking, his buddies came on scene to back him. I have those on here who feel as I do, he has those who side with him. Are either of us right? That is a question for each reader to decide. We have a self-proclaimed sheriff on this site, but except for the occasional moderator, there is no judge. So, some things just escalate until a thread is locked down or deleted. Isn't this what we all want. Have a great life.
I really am going to have to teach you some reading comprehension skills. Did they not teach that back in the "good ole days" when you walked to school both ways up hill in two feet of snow? This all started with me saying to Ranger Bob, i.e. el moldy that I recall him in the past (NOT THIS THREAD) being critical of student athletes, which he agreed but defended. You came swooping in to defend your boyfriend and it escalated from there. NEVER ONCE DID I SAY YOU NAMED A SPECIFIC KID IN THIS THREAT. SINCE YOU CAME TO YOUR BUDDIES DEFENSE I CHALLENGED YOU ON YOUR POINT. SINCE YOU OBVIOUSLY AGREED WITH RANGER BOB THE DISCUSSION CONTINUED WITH YOU.

Now, I since I had to repeat myself to you I thought I would try the all caps since lowercase didn't work the last time. Lastly, I know no one on this site. You were all high and mighty when you named your buddies as people who agreed with you. It turns out more people agreed with me so go eat some more crow.

Comprehension boi: Yes, you did say I criticized a certain kid. I know I didn't, I re-read the posts to prove to myself I didn't, you obviously DID NOT reread or you would have seen it. If you had, you won't man up to it. Your panties were in a wad because Moldo cornered you and you couldn't accept that, so you struck back at me for taking his back. Mr. moderator- please lock this thread. I'm right on this, and obviously he thinks he is. This is not going to end. Ever.

....When raising children, is there a difference between discipline and abuse? Sure there is. If your 4 year old son keeps putting his hand up on the stove, there's a difference between smacking his hand, and hitting him with the buckle end of a belt. When pointing out how a local high school football player played poorly in his last game, is there a difference between criticism and ridicule? Sure there is. There's a difference in describing how his play may have cost his team a game, as opposed to making fun of him for how he played. And what gives a person the right to criticize a player? By the same token, what gives someone the right to celebrate a player's achievement on the field. Praise and criticism are part of the game. You can't exclude one and include the other. It's like having a child: You dare to share in a great happiness; but you also dare to share in a great sorrow. Some things can't be separated. High school football players are as close to manhood as you can get. As mentioned, you can drive at 16, vote at 18, join the service at 18. Why are we cuddling young men from mistakes they make on the field? It goes with the territory. To say that only parents and coaches should criticize a player is a joke. It's often the parent's who say, "My son should be starting. He's a senior". They're going to criticize their son?????? I don't think so. Fans of the game on a site like this know what players do wrong. We can't bring it up???? If a running back does not get out of bounds to stop the clock late in the game when his team is trailing by a few points, THAT IS A MISTAKE!!! Shouldn't a fan make a note of that? Who are we protecting? Games are important to the fans also. NOBODY should ridicule a player for a gameday mistake, but a fact is a fact. Fans who show up on Friday nights aren't there to make sure someone's self-esteem is being preserved. A fumble is a fumble. A missed assignment is a missed assignment. Call a spade a spade. A little criticism may go a long way to improving one's play in the future.

Sportsfan1000 Boyfriend? I suppose this was an insult to me? I just joined this site a few weeks ago because i love high school football and enjoy to talk about it. This has gone way to far. This site is talk about football which you turned into a huge girl fight. There is no reason to call people out and for people to put there name on the website. It shows that you don't have much experience with forums and debates. Please leave all this crap behind us and have intelligent talks about FOOTBALL. Just for the record i don't know Manfred and probably never will considering I live in Pittsburgh now. Please lock this thread Mr. moderator.

Please show me where I said you criticized a player on this thread. Again, this started with moldy, you stuck up for him, so I rightfully assumed you agreed with him that it was ok to criticize a student athlete and the conversation continued with you. Never once did I post anywhere that you called out someone on this thread. Exactly where did you read that from me?

FIND IT AND I WILL START A NEW THREAD APOLOGIZING TO YOU. THE PROBLEM IS IT DOESNT EXIST. This mysterious post has something in common with your brain... doesnt exist.

For some reason you keep saying over and over that I said you criticized a certain kid and I have no idea why. Again, copy and paste it and prove me wrong!

BTW, if you think two old geezers like you and Ranger Bob could ever "get my panties in a wad" as you put it you definitely are less intelligent than I originally assumed.

I will say this. I worked in a bar in Ebensburg in the early 2000s and worked with several FH alum that were football players. All cool guys. Still friends. I will admit that the small minority of FH supporters (you and ranger bob) are dopes. All the rest I ever met are stand up guys.

So out of curiousity, exactly how many kids have you raised since you seem to be such an expert on the topic?
