You folks need some hobbies.
Two things, first you are putting a great deal of stock in what is possibly the worst newspaper in the state. Second who cares about the onside kick, its a free ball. Are you gonna tell me that if they kick it deep and muff it McCort shouldn't cover it up and take possession? Or if you kick it deep and on the next play Somerset's qb throws a ball directly to a McCort player are you gonna tell him to not catch it and take it to the house, so it can be fair? Moldo you were talking earlier about not handing trophies out to everyone who plays.

i appreciate it ;)
and as for moldo, you still know nothing about football.

The sad thing is he probably would say that McCort should just let it go and allow the other team to scoop it up.

Where's the deceit or trickery in kicking it deep, or a QB throwing the ball right into the hands of a McCort player. C'mon Pears, these examples are not even related. Trickery is when YOU have the ball? It wouldn't surprize me if BM tried a triple-reverse with a 39 point lead late in the game. How can you compare a muff to a PLANNED onside kick?

I would go with the spirit of this verse:
Proverbs 24:17-18 ESV / 16 helpful votes
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles, lest the Lord see it and be displeased, and turn away his anger from him.
There is a proper way to win and to lose. Just because I am a fan of Richland doesn't mean they are perfect, but if the only example against them is that they made a t-shirt for their kids praising a win a couple years ago, that is entirely different than running up the score on a hapless opponent.

Depends how you look at it.
Like I said I don't care about teams running up the score, it matters very little to me, especially when it didn't happen. And like I said, there is not one team, school, or players/coaches that I hate in this league. I know a lot more people that hate McCort, than people from McCort other schools. Fact.

Thebrigade 22:44 line 3.... hapless is in the eyes of the beholder.. im sure somerset players would not consider themselves hapless... ;)

crimson. you have to play the game for at least 3 quarters before calling the dogs off.. a few years ago c.t. had a 21 point lead against windber and windber came back in the 4th to almost tie the game as time ran out. a goal line stand with 4 seconds left is the only thing that stopped that 4th quarter comeback. and that was all first string till the end. with that said... township has had a big lead in many games and with the game in control sam always runs regular runs and takes a knee every time instead of going in... 2 years ago, against shade a player ran a fumble back 93 yds for a td but took a knee on the extra point. there is just as much to teach these kids when they win as there is when they lose.

I thought halftime was fair, some people say the onsides kick a minute into the 2nd quarter is wrong, some say it isn't. I mean if any other coach makes that call, I wouldn't even think call him out on it. Its good football, not showing up anyone. I think its fair game to try to win the game in the first half. I never found an instance of running up the score a minute into the second quarter in my life. If that upsets people, than why even play the whole game? Just make it a baseball game, and call the game in the 4th inning, or second quarter.
If Penn State does that to a "hapless' Indiana State team, nobody on ISU would be having a fit.
