Re: Saturday 11/10 updates!
I agree with you on penalties. Turnovers can be a different story. Example: I went to the Richland game last night and PC threw a pic at the Rams 5 yard line. It happened because the Rams had intense pressure on the PC qb, he was scrambling and the safety stayed in his zone and did his job. Richland forced that mistake. I wasn't at the game tonight was just wondering if the turnovers were forced or bad throws that's all.

I thought the end was bad playcalling but like i said. McCort won this game and deserves it. BTW Go Cal!!! Someone shut these oregon ducks up. Dislike their fans out here. They rival portage fans ;) jk jk

Bad throws, especially when you consider that Ferens is a 4 year starter at QB

I trust young Buck with that. Ferens has never been a passing Qb. He was an athlete that should of been running the ball in the end. Or not passing right away, give him a roll out or somethingyoungbuck wrote:Bad throws, especially when you consider that Ferens is a 4 year starter at QB

RE: Central/FH game
Was able to attend this game. Had to sit on the Central Side as I got there about 7:05 and Away beachers were filled. Lots of Central Fans on both sides. Overall the first half was very hard fought by both sides. FH getting the better of the offensive play but not be much.
Second half was sort of a back and forth affair after FH opening drive to score. Both sides went back and forth but again it appeared FH was able to drive the ball for longer periods of time and make more first downs than Central.
Officiating really seemed to be a non-issue. Since I had to sit on the Home side (first row) I believe some of the central faithful were upset at times with it but there were clearly missed calls on both sides. Toward the end of the game FH QB was down and a central player piled on a little late, the Central fans seemed to not like that call, although I think it was the right call. The intentional grounding call on the FH QB seemed to be the wrong call although I was on the other side of the field so I couldn't quite tell for sure.
Central had no answer for FH passing in this game especially the comeback pass on the sidelines. FH recievers made some excellent catches in this game. One catch by Shope in the 1st quarter he was triple covered and still came up with the jump ball.
Overall I think going into this game I expected more from Central. Not sure if this is strength of schedule or what not.
Again it was a very entertaining high school game. Both Teams will be back in the hunt in the coming years based on the "youth" they have starting this year.

Re: Saturday 11/10 updates!
Here's my take on last nights FH/Central game.....The best athletes don't always win but the best TEAM does and last night FH was far and away the better team. I've been to all of Central's games this year except 2 and FH was the best coached and most disciplined team they've faced. FH was fundamentally sound not making any costly mistakes, 9 times out of 10 the 1st guy to the ball made the tackle and this limited Central playmakers. Central did just miss on several big play opportunities, whether it was Moore open deep and being just overthrown or plays being called back because of penalty. But come playoff time this is what decides ballgames. FH took what the Central defense gave them, which happened to be the 10 yard out pattern, and Central made no adjustments to stop it. All the credit goes to the FH players and coaching staff. Central will be back next year with Cunningham, Moore and another group of nice young players coming up from 9th grade but for now it's congrats to the Rangers.....I was impressed!
You play to win the game!!!

Re: Saturday 11/10 updates!
Rox....On the play where Moore intercepted the pass in the endzone was the roughing the passer call legit? I was looking toward the endzone where the pick was made and missed what happened back at the QB. FH went on to punch it in for a TD so it was a big gamechanging call and just wondered how close it was.
I agree with you that the piling on call in the 4th was a good call. The grounding call could have went either way. Central got away with offensive PI on the big play to Moore in the 1st half that lead to Centrals lone score so I'd say the officiating was pretty even.

Good run down of the game last night. Forest Hills was the best team last night. Central had no answer for their passing game. Central hurt theirselves with costly penalties that were called correctly. Timely interception in the end zone (roughing the passer) and the long TD run from Moore called back ( block in the back) they had their chances and I thought played undisciplined. As far as the FH intentional grounding from my view it was the correct call. MHO Central has not played well for the last month
Good luck to the Rangers

RE Central Game
On the Roughing the passer call in the first half, that play was hectic to begin with! I had a good view of it and honestly I feel it probably was the right call. At first I thought it was defensive penalty (line up in neutral zone) when I saw the flag at the line. Then of course followed the throw downfield. It was a good lick on the QB and he had clearly got the throw off before the hit.
On the Second half block in the back that was a correct call. FH player #81 was right in line to attempt a tackle on Moore when he was hit from behind. Was a bad mistake that took some much needed momentum from Central in the Game.
Sitting on the Central side I was able to overhear some conversation of the Home Team Fans and did hear some folks saying the same thing as Bleacherbum mentioned that Central had not played well for the last 2 or 3 games. Having kept up with local football and seeing some of the blowouts by the Central Squad earlier in the year I was thinking it would be a great game and I really think it lived up to a great game and fun to watch.
Were there any injuries to Central Players over the last half of the season or did they just loose some steam going into the playoffs?

I also agree I know there were 2 times for sure that Moore was behind the FH Defender to be overthrown by the Central QB. Theoreticlly you get 2 big players or even scores there but again its a game of plays and Central was not making the big plays/catches and FH made the better more consistent plays all game.
