Please, all the teams get weeks off before bowl season and playoffs. And sometimes one section is better than another. Again, it's a piece of the puzzle but a 10-3 conference champion shouldn't automatically be put in without questionColonel Mustard wrote:That's why you can't put teams in the playoff that didn't make their own conference championship. They basically get a bye through probably the toughest round of the playoff system. Ridiculous.

IMO 8 would be the max and possibly 6.

You are whiffing his point about the Bye. He is calling it a bye because a conference championship game generally forces you to play another top opponent in the season.CCDevil2012 wrote:Please, all the teams get weeks off before bowl season and playoffs. By not qualifying for your conference championship you do not run the risk of losing and making your record worst while also not having to risk your players to injury. If wisconsin just got to stay 12-0 they would of made the playoffs but they were forced to play a game against a tougher opponent.
Alabama and ohio state these past two years have benefitted by simply not being forced to play a top opponent in a conference championship game, which is extremely wrong.

Is the best team not going to win if its larger than 4-8 teams?

It's just my opinion that anything more than 8 is watered down. I like it coming down to the last week of the regular season. More teams u add the less relevance the regular season holds.konjo78 wrote:Is the best team not going to win if its larger than 4-8 teams?

But by calling it a "Bye" you make it sound desireable. Like Wisconsin was just "forced" to play. So if the Big 10 approached Wisconsin and said "we know you won your division but if you want we'll just let PSU play Ohio St. again so you can have a bye", you're saying Wisconsin would gladly accept. If given the choice, every team would opt to play for a championship. Alabama was not rewarded for sitting out, they were rewarded for going 11-1 in a top conference. But it could have been drastically different if Auburn won, Alabama did not control their own destiny, they do if they're in that game. The championship can bolster a resume but it's not the only factor.konjo78 wrote:You are whiffing his point about the Bye. I mean I guess, but I'm sure Alabama wasn't happy they lost to Auburn and missed out. If you ask them they would have rather played instead of hoping it worked out in their favorkonjo78 wrote:Noth ohio state and alabama did benefit though?
