Konjo I thought you were done with football because of the violence? What's your major malfunction?
Portage held the best team around to 28 points and scored 14 on them, which was more than anyone did all year. Considering they were supposed to get blown out. I'd say that's great. Something to be proud of.
When Drew Bledsoe got hurt, their back up won the Super Bowl

And Peyton Manning missed a season and the colts were the worse team in the NFL? What's your point? Bledsoe was the qb not the star player.

First off Congratulations to Bishop Guilfoyle on winning the Single A Championship last night. Good Luck and represent District 6 well in the State Playoff's. Mr. McCloskey you've got blazing speed that I got to see first hand last night, hopefully it bring's you and your teammates a state gold medal home.
Now on to my Mustang's. What an effort last night gentleman. You left all you had on the playing field and played as brothers side by side for 48:00 minutes against the 2nd ranked team in the state and battled them like they haven't been battled all season long. You may not have come out victorious however this alumni, the school, the fans, the conference, the other schools fans and players that were out there cheering for you last night, and MOST importantly the whole Portage community is proud of you all. Senior's you were a fantastic bunch to wear that green and white uniform, keep your heads high and be proud of where you represent.
Now that I'm done you can all go back to smack talking Portage as usual Ha Ha Good luck to the rest of the D5 and D6 teams still alive as well.

Well said!!!! I tend to think BG played down a little last night but I dont mean that to take anything away from Portage. They played their hearts out and earned my respect. My biggest issue over the years has always been their idiot coach. Its funny...from the time he got the boot last week they have played arguably their best 6 quarters of football.....oh...and without any personal fouls or unsportsmanlike acts....go figure. Good for them..they should be proud for sure!!

I have seen BG play every game this year but one and I have to give Portage a ton of credit. Kephart is a terrific back and the first TD run he made was one of the best I've seen this year. Portage has had a great run and should be commended. However, anyone who thinks Berlin would beat BG or Somerset is delusional.
That was the worst I've seen BG play this year (maybe they were a little tight due to the expectations although I disagree with Crimson that it's because they haven't come up big in big games because these players were also on the field/court for the wins against Somerset in football, BC in hoops as an underdog for the district title win 2 years ago, and playing them better in 3 games last year than anyone not named Lincoln Park, and many other big wins in both sports the last 3 years) and Portage deserves credit for much of that. This is a really good group of athletes who've been in many big games the last 3 years. They did lose to Homer Center last year which appears to have motivated them this year. The loss to Smethport 2 years ago in hoops wasn't much of an upset when you consider Smethport went on to defeat Tyler Boyd and Clairton before barely losing to eventual state runner-up Johnsonburg. I'm hopeful learning from those experiences (as they've had both good and bad) will allow them to prepare and perform their best in the state playoffs in this last go around. No matter what happens, this core group of seniors has had one helluva run (experiencing both the highs and lows which is to be expected when you continually put yourself in big games against great teams) in a couple sports.
