but I'll tell you what...you give me better athletes, I'll be a better coach...I've been at the bottom...I've been at the top...the difference was the quality of athletes that I had to deal with...in a small school, that makes the difference....and that's where private schools or recruiting schools have the edge over the public schools that deal with the hand that is dealt....yes, many ways to play the hand, but certainly the odds are winning go up when you have the cards...

it is a cycle...and yes, it has to start somewhere....but when the rules aren't the same, it's difficult to separate the qualities you are talking about...

and, money plays a factor in all of this...not just the money that a school provides, but also the money that boosters kick into the equation...

Two things: 1) Does anybody think that Crookshank's playing at BC may have hurt the chances of someone at Blacklick getting a scholarship? Good teammates may bring out the best in you, right? and 2) Why does everyone think that Forest Hills is trying to avoid going AAA? Who was there to be afraid of in AAA the last 10 years? FH would have ruled AAA in our district during years. To me, it seems like all the tough teams (Bedford, Tyrone, McCort, CC) are all AA. Johnstown has only been "good" to last 2 years. Huntingdon was good for only about 2 years. Makes more sense to avoid AA, right?

How would FH fared in the other sports? Maybe thats why they didnt want to jump to 3A?

Locally AA may be better than AAA, but once you get to the inter-district playoffs it will be reversed. I know there are exceptions, but most years AAA is better than AA on the state level.

I think, though, that winning your district is the first goal of any team. Anything after that is gravy. I mean most high school football teams go to camp in august with more realistic goals of winning their conference and their district. Not many worry about interdistrict play until the time comes.

What if there were 2 more classifications added? Would that create a more narrow playing field?

Not if the "recruiters" are allowed to remain in the smallest classifications.

Let's not confuse "transferred" into a district with "moved" into a district.
