Is Frazen playing? Coming off that concussion, he took some nasty shots to the head last time.

I have to say, it was not great the whole night, but the aggressiveness was exactly what was needed. I still don't get how the Pens passing is so poor, or why they don't challenge more on defense instead of standing there like they are. They have GOT to keep Detroit away from the front of the net!!! And when Gill got that stupid penalty and Detroit scored that power-play goal... I almost threw the remote through the TV. And it wasn't even my TV. So in addition to buying someone a new TV I would have gotten my @$$ kicked.
How many more times are we going to see Detroit get cheap goals like the one that went past Fleury from about 200 yards out?
They showed they can score against Osgood, and maybe now it'll start to click. I think we've seen from tonight that the way to keep this series tight is by playing super aggressive and hit as many people as possible.

I do not like the dump and chase that they are playing. As soon as we dump it into the o zone, we lose possession.

I don't like the dump and chase either, but when that's what they're giving you, you have to go in with aggression like Roberts did and flatten a guy into the boards. That'll leave a little bit of doubt in guys heads when to go to play the puck in the corner with their backs to the rest of the ice. And Roberts big hit... well that lead to the game winning goal.
Did anyone about go ape$#!t when Brooks Orpik had 4 hits in about 10 seconds? That was the kind of aggression the Pens need to play with in their own defensive end all the time.
And on Franzen's goal, I believe Staal could have come across and just destroyed him, but instead took the cautious route and tried to prevent the cross. If he hits him high and hard like he is capable of doing, maybe Franzen is out for the rest of the series.
All in all a much better all around performance last night than the first two nights. Another MUST WIN on Saturday to force it back to Detroit. I feel if they can win and win big Saturday they're the odds on favorite in the Motor City on Monday...

Some good stuff all but a couple misconceptions.....re. the hitting the Pens were not unaggressive (if that's a word) in Detroit.....they actually outhit the Wings in game 2! The Pens were clearly attempting to work wide & dump along the boards as Detroit has clogged the middle, in games 1 & 2, quickly cleared dump-ins behind the net, transitioning form D to O as well as any team I have ever seen. Besides getting GR back in lineup (as there was no excuse for him being a healthy scratch) the biggest dif. in Pgh is that MT gets last line change.....that Datsyuk, Zetterburg , Holmstrom line is a bi+( h.....and that is who they threw against Sid in Detroit. As scary as they are offensively, I have not seen a better defensive unit than those guys & getting Sid away from them is huge and making them face our Stalls, Rutuus, Roberts, Kennedy's should impede their productivity some.
Now being a Pgh guy & former partial season ticket holder, I know i am biased in my viewing & criticism of the refs but i saw clearly what MT was bit(hing about ...the obstruction away from the play.....the refs/league have cracked down on like holding & hooking, evidenced in last nites game, as throughout the series, but Detroit is coached & good at holding up weak side wingers,,,,,saw lots of obstruction not called (on them)!
Game 4 should be a classic!

just a quick note about the dump and chase thing. at a certain point that's about all you can do against this defense. they clog up the center of the ice and they stand guys up at the blue line. there really isn't an opportunity most of the time to carry the puck into the offensive zone, so dump and chase is their only option. it was a decent game by the pens...still not their best though. looking forward to game 4!
