Up until the last week of the regular season, PC's Rick Bono was the leading hitter (Avg) in the entire STATE!
Nothing against the young man because he's a good player, but this statement is untrue. I posted updates throughout the year of the Max Preps stats and Bono was never the leading hitter in the state and was not in the Top 20 in the final two updates. He finished the year at .368. Jon Kirby from FH, Matt Wilden from HC and Vance Kimberly from Glendale were the three top D-6 kids throughout the year. Jordan Higgins of Fannett-Metal was the top D-5 kid throughout the year. Bronson Bowser of NB (who, IMHO, is the best hitter in the region) finished at .493.

And yes, the stats are for the entire state BUT only from those schools who participate. I would guesstimate that 40 percent of the state's schools post stats.

OK. Time for me to 'fess up! I'm not the STAT GEEK some of you obviously are, and don't take offense, because I used to be, sort of. When you attend a lot of games, and overhear Coaches, well-meaning parents, other teams' players, and fans whose opinions you trust, you take for granted SOME things you hear just may be true. I'm human. Guess I should have known better to post before fact-checking. My bad!
