I'm the last person to ever start an argument or fight over an athletic event because I'm just not like that. But the fact of the matter is I was stating the exact words of a claysburg fan. We all watched him yell out across the gym that Greg was supposedly 'scared' and 'just taking a break' when the ref called for blood time. That unfortunately is a clueless comment coming from a less than intelligent fan. And I'm pretty sure then that NB's fans said nothing when Knott had two or three blood times after that. And it wasn't just that guy, it was nearly every fan sitting there that had something to say when Greg was bleeding. And the nicest fans around?? No, I don't think so. Again, I've heard their comments, I've seen their actions, and nicest fans around isn't the correct statement.
I was not busting on any wrestlers or coaches. I have so much respect for these guys for the work that goes into this sport. I never wrestled but that doesn't mean I don't know what kind of work goes into it because I had and have many friends that wrestle at the highschool and college level and I see what they put themselves through. Ever since I became a big fan of wrestling a few years ago, I realized how awesome this sport is and how rewarding it is to the guys that go through it. So me not respecting these guys or coaches isn't even a question.
But just to wrap this all up...it's not saying too much when a referee says to a whole crowd of people to "not worry about them, you guys are fans, they're not." Ask anyone that was sitting with the NB fans and they will tell you the same thing...thats what the ref told us. But what do I know, I'm only a fan.

Coach Marko is a welcome addition to the site!!!
I am one of the NB fans that gets vocal and I love it. I am the fella who screamed BLOOD TIME whenever the CK faithful were yelling at him for basically being 'scared'. The rivalry is awesome. I love it when CK is rooting against NB even if NB is wrestling someone from Glendale. NB does the same to Claysburg and it is really cool in my opinion.
We both do the same thing...fans of both teams make idiot comments at times, but it is fun and adds to the match that much more. You see a community backing their wrestler with all kinds of support. I would love to be out there with an entire crowd of people 'having my back'. Its like this big fight where everyone has your back...pretty cool stuff.
Marko is nothing short of a GREAT coach. The kids from CK love him (you can tell by their loyalty to the sport), and I believe they would do anything for him. Of course I have yelled 'Marko' at a match and been an idiot...but that doesn't mean I don't respect him tremendously. I just like to stir the pot with the whole crowd thing. CK is loaded this year, and I'd love to see Coach Marko continue to post on our site. Good job this weekend Dawgs!

I got an interesting question???? where were all the loyal NBC fans that supported the team last year? seems like the fan support is already dropping off.. Just because the team is down this year don't just turn your back on them until they get good again...( which could be a long time) Don't take this wrong..I seen some loyal fans there, but NBC usually has 3 times that many fans...and for the ref that said what he said during the Knott/Kilgore match shows no class a person,,he should keep his focus on the match and stop looking for a pat on the back...he probably screwed up all day and was trying to gain some friends....I like sitting beside the NBC fans but it just seemed kind of lonely this year...well let me here some comments on this
It won't be long til they are good again. Clark is a great coach and there are some studs coming up through the ranks.

Clark is only a great coach when he has the great kids....look at his past...Tussey mt. ,,,,Central,,,,He had some great teams and kids there, but when he knew he would never have a great team at these schools he got out...so look out NBC he might not be around for long,,,I think NBC will have some very good kids over the next 6 or 7 years, but they are going to struggle as a team
or read what you wrote...
TM good teams, then to Central...more high profile for him
then to NBC...alma mater where he won 3 state titles. he came home houndawg!

No way Houndawg! Jan Clark would have continued to have great teams wherever he was at. That guy draws people to the sport. Jan Clark and Marko are the greatest coaches this area has seen since the Clark brothers rivarly between Everett/Bedford way way back in the day(note: Bedford dominated it). And I love the fact that Marko/Clark have been in the same league so that it creates one spectacular rivalry. Clark has one league titles with all three teams and been the mirror selection for coach of the year with all three. And Marko has made his team dominant in the league year in, year out. And he isn't hesitant to help kids out who don't wrestle for his team. I owe a lot to both Coach Clark and Coach Marko. Thanks guys!
As far as the crowd depleating at NB, I see it this way: the Mag3 at NB last year (Reasy, Swindell, Suter) drew a crowd by themselves. They had a heck of a graduating class among them who all came to support. And look, now the mag3 is back cheering for their own team when they can. But I still see a heck of a crowd their for NB. Coach and his annoying bleachercrew are all their with annoying claps and chants. Actually I wish I had that at Everett, I love those guys.
Jan may be on his way out but I think he will bring in a replacement who will do just as good of a job and Jan will still be around to help out where needed. NB will continue to be a wrestling school.

Houndawg, they way your post was written it doesn't sound like you were there saturday. The ref. that said that is a quality referee who is consistent with his calls, so no, I highly doubt his intentions were to make friends. The comments made were out of line and ridiculous. I love the NB/Claysburg rivalry, there's nothing better than two schools battling that are full of pride for their team. Granted, we all say things in the heat of the moment like mentioned before, but the comments that were made were just so clueless it was hard to look past it.
hahaha, we maybe annoying, but we are fans that love the sport. 4him, you're invited to hang out with us anytime. I hope that these comments about Jan leaving are just rumors, which I'm sure they are. He won't be leaving for a while. Talent or no talent, he makes the kids that wrestle for him the best they can be. I respect that man as much as anyone for the hard work and respect he demands from his wrestlers. So I wish him the best of luck for continued success with NB's program...which we will have plenty of.

i'll admit that when marko first started coaching at claysburg, i was not a big fan of him. mainly because i was ignorant to the fact that he is a good coach. i guess i was just young and in the the middle of the heated nb/ claysburg rivalry. but now that i am older and more aware of things, i respect him. he makes an average wrestler good, and a good wrestler great. i like when he gets fired up during a match and is animated. but i do root for the opposite school when they are wrestling claysburg, but that is just the rivalry side of me coming out.
as for the nb fans. the true fans will always be there, slow clap and all.
and if you honestly think that clark will be leaving nbc soon, you have no idea. he and his entire family are part of the nbc family. his wife and daughters bleed black and white. he is a tremendous coach and an awesome person and a great friend to all nbc wrestlers and fans.
