As for the WestPac, I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Portage and Windber (as it is every year). Those teams are the perrennial winners in the WestPac, and their tradition should hold true this year as well.

Steel High will be tough...but over the years McCort has played really good backs like Jeremiah Young...(Stephens,Reed,Burns)



it will be a good game...(should it work out that way we are all palnning it)....Young vs the rushing trio of Lowry Wadley and Seidel.

I wouldnt expect to see too many passes that game

Steel High returns almost the whole team (skilled positions at least) from last year's state championship team. I don't see McCort having much of a chance in that one. As for districts there is a team outside of the LHAC that wont be a cupcake and just roll over for McCort. Everyone is forgetting about Bellwood-Antis which won D6 A last year and is traditionally a good football team. I'd still pick McCort to beat them, but just saying it won't all be easy.

I'm with all of you on Westpac teams; not being able to handle teams like McCort, but i wouldnt count some of them out of being a little bit below McCort if they played in the LHAC. There is always close games with North Star, Portage, Windber; but everyone else there is a blowout. We all know the LHAC is faster, stronger, bigger competition than the Westpac, but those 3 dominate Westpac teams, could do a decnt job in the LHAC in my opinoin, maybe not beating McCort, but could do a decent job in that conference.

For all we know, McCort could be upset at any point in the playoffs and not even get the chance to play steel high. No one is just going to roll over and declare the Crushers champions, of course not. But my prediction is that the McCort-Steel High matchup will take place, with Steel High winning by two TDs.

As for the WestPac-LHAC argument, I agree that the "Big 3" of the WestPac (N. Star, Portage, and Windber) would be able to hold their own in the LHAC. But there's no comparison in talent when they are placed next to the "Big 3" of the LHAC (Bishop McCort, Central Cambria, and Forest Hills).

to say McCort doesn't have a chance in that game is a little premature.

I'm not going to make a prediction about playoff games let alone state playoff games until i see at least a scrimage or the first regular season game

i dont mind talking Single A football.
But up until this year all i was really concerned about was Double A.and i still have interest in AA.
Sooo where are the Rangers and Red Devil fans...Whats your thoughts?I think you guys are the 2 best but you cant ever count out Tyrone.

But as for youre road to Hershey.....district 10 out of the gates....Wilmington loses Chris Burns but his younger brother,Derrick is an impressive athlete as well.And im sure Sharon probably has a good team.maybe a wild card team up there as well

Then for the WPIAL.....Beaver Falls with Todd Thomas is a big time player.Im not sure what Sto-Rox is(A or AA) but they apparently have the next Terrelle Pryor...already? But Jeanette isnt done without Pryor because Jordan Hall is back and hes a 4 star back heading to THE Ohio State University.Greensburg CC has a good QB(Adam Palcic)and some other athletes.And i know you can never count out the Quips.


My prediction to win district 6 is Forest Hills and i think theyll lose to Wilmington but if they escape Wilmington.Every team i named above should and most likely will beat the Rangers by at least 4 touchdowns in the Western Final

In regards to the Westpac holding their own, it was not too long ago when Windber and Bishop Carroll met in the playoffs for a few years in a row and the games were close with Windber taking one. That is when Bishop Carroll steamrolled through the LHAC and had a very hard time with a team from the Westpac. I am not saying it would happen every year, but Windber, Portage and North Star would hold their own for the most part.

To talk a little AA, as you said Crimson you cannot ever count out Tyrone. Their freshman QB has a year under his belt and I am very sure that the taste of the ubrupt end to an unblemished season has not left the mouths of the Tyrone faithful. The Golden Eagles may very well have another 9-0 or 10-0 season (not sure if they picked up a 10th game). In any case once the playoffs start, its anyones guess. FH will most definitly, baring a serious injury or three, make some noise and I could see PO coming out strong with a BIG team. CC has a real chance at the district title this year against Tyrone/FH, any combo of those three teams I think has to be a preseaon favorite. However I dont see how those hold any weight, its anyones guess untill teams can prove themselves. Once outside of the D6 game, Im guessing the winner will meet yet another Wilmington team since that has been the match up the last few years. This game should definitly be very close and the following week is going to be a real dog fight for the western final. It has a chacne to be close or someone may just run away with that game. Realistically it is entirely too early to tell anything for sure, I just hope that another enjoyable LHAC season is coming up for all of us fans out there that love to see high school football at its best.

Last year I was able to see Jeannette play, as well as Greensburg CC, Beaver Falls, and Aliquippa. Based on my observations from last year, I thought the 07 CC and BM teams could easily handle Greensburg CC, and hang with, if not beat, Beaver Falls (Todd Thomas is overrated). I think Pittsburgh CC would've had a rough time with Jeannette, let alone our local teams, and Aliquippa's Jonathan Baldwin would've demanded double coverage on every play, still probably scoring 2 or 3 TDs against the LHAC's best.

As far as this year goes, if CC or FH is able to win D6 and get through Wilmington, they will most likely play Beaver Falls (Jeannette lost a TON of talent, so I don't foresee a title repeat there). I would have to say that the eventual WPIAL winner would beat a D6 team by two touchdowns, three at most--but not four. Like I said before, Beaver Falls is not THAT much better than a local CC, FH, or Tyrone team.

The western half of the state will have a new look this year without Terrelle Pryor. More teams will have a reasonable shot to make it to the state championship game. No more 63-0 spankings in the playoffs by Pryor and company.
