^hahaha ? i dont get it, westpac talent is < or =/= lhac talent
I'll drop dead before Portage makes any noise in the state playoffs.
nLions, that post got added after you posted only by chance. My tirade is more directed at the guys who made these quotes. I can read, and I saw that you are backing up your points with more sense than any crusher fan has ever used. I got a little fired up because the same argument always comes up and ruins the topic.
Before portage ever plays mccort, who is the best team they will have to beat in the playoffs?
It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

These have to be some of the most assinine posts I have ever read on Bleachercoaches. I haven't encountered such moronic musings since the old LHSports days. Wow.

Fact...the LHAC consists of AAA, AA, and three (Private) A schools who should be playing up in classification anyway. Of course the LHAC is a stronger conference overall than the West Pac, the SCHOOLS ARE BIGGER!!! THEY HAVE MORE KIDS TO CHOOSE FROM!!! Or in Carroll , Guilfoyle, and McCort's case...MORE TOWNS TO CHOOSE FROM!!!

Personally, I have been lucky to get out and watch alot of high school football this year, I have seen teams from both the LHAC and the West Pac. Fact...Portage is strong enough to play with the big boys of the LHAC. Without a doubt. It is one thing to say that McCort will blow Portage out, but for an idiot to actually say that the West Pac is so weak that Heights would beat Portage is unbelievably funny    !!! Portage (-40) vs. Heights.

Obviously, many of the people in this forum don't realize that Portage played an LHAC schedule up until 1988 and held their own year in and year out. They were one of the smallest schools, if not the smallest school, in the Mountain Conference. They played McCort, Forest Hills, Central Cambria, Penn Cambria, Cambria Heights, Quad A Vo-Tech, etc.

Plain and simple...it is all in the program and the type of kids who get to call themselves Mustangs. The future of Portage football start learning the system in early elementary and keep refining it as they matriculate through. They are tough kids who want to carry on tradition and perhaps make their own name in the annuls of Mustang football.

And the beautiful thing...they all call the 15946 zip code home.

This year reminds of the year Portage had Shope RB and TE (Shope went to Marshall to play). They went undefeated that year went up against BC and lost by 30 in the playoffs and that year BC had 2-3 losses. In 2003 N Cambria was the next best thing played BC the score could have been 80-14 A championship. What I'm trying to say is If the LHAC has a good team coming out not even a great team just a good team they will win D6 A. If some LHAC team does not win it, I would give it to Bellwood. Portage is in this position year and year out and never even reaches the championship. Thats the way its been and thats the way it will be this year. Look at the conference you got teams that have 17-25 kids on the team Portage has 65-85 kids every year. I also believe Heights would only have 1 or 2 losses in that conference. Its hard to gauge how good Portage really is. This conference is just terrible I would rank it at the bottom in western PA. Portage will not see any competition until the playoffs. BC would be a tight game with portage (BC can stop the run and has a very good running game). BG I think would win with their passing game. BM just has a good team their team speed would just overcome Portage. Everyone just forget about the states Steelton High got that wrapped up. Does anyone know if the D6 winner and Steelton wil be in Altoona? Thats how I see it !! God Bless!!

I think Portage in a lot of ways is like Richland. Im sure the decreasing #s of BC and BM is going to mean other teams will start stepping up...
Thank you for sharing your girls basketball knowledge, but lets stay away from comparisons involving girls HS sports and football. How are richland and Portage similar?

Alot of people forget how successful windber was in D6 A making the final 6 or so times and winning the championship of an LHAC team in BC. Windber did lose the championship many times, but BC was a very tough team during those years. To summarize Windber>Portage

Use your head. Who gave PC girls a shot (just because they are in they are not in the LHAC, no one did) and they ended up #2 in the state. Just like some people are counting out Portage because they play in the WestPac. Thats how it relates Kingdom.

How are they like Richland?

You are correct. Portage should not be overlooked. They are very talented and just need to get "over the hump/hurdle" of the semis. Does that mean they can beat BM? Will be EXTREMELY difficult without a passing game. The two teams that hung with them this year (BG & RICH) can move the ball vertically in a hurry.

Guys common now. You can not sit here and judge a team on how they will do because of the past years performance. I believe Portage could hang with all of the BISHOPS in the LHAC. I believe Portage would beat up on a BC team that is very overrated this year. BG would cause them problems because lets face it you rarely see a good wide out or good passing quarterback in the Westpack. I believe that McCort and Portage are very similiar this year both have three good tailbacks and ride them all night long. The question will be IF these two teams play WHO can pass the all on the other team and I am sorry I don't think it will be Portage.

I do not think Portage will win a championship until they implement a system where it is not 95% run and 5% pass. You have to realize they are playing kids from the LHAC. Now Im not saying they should roll over or anything but these kids have seen tailbacks like this all year and just as good of lines. So they are going to know what is being put on the table.

I also believe that BM is to one dimensional. Heck now adays whenever I hink of a D6 A school I just think of run run run run run. Thats pretty much what it is coming down to. Bellwood and BG are the only two with athletes at both wide reciever and quarterback.

So for my prediction on who will win D6 A..........

I think Bellwood will be ready to stop McCorts running game in the championship and will be throwing up bombs th whole night...
Final 42-39

Portage is the best team in single a.
Lets just quit arguing.
nobdoys stands a chance.

How do you think the tough running game of Portage will matchup with Steelton's athletic ability?

And yes to answer the question...the Portage-Steel High game will be at Mansion Park because the defending champs Bellwood had to go play them in Hershey last year.

my prediction for the d6 a championship game is 56-7 blowout by portage over McCort, mccort stands no chance against this powerful running attack

portage will then have an easy road past steelton and into the state title game winning that game easily 35-14

 give me a break portage fans
