The reason for this is that this game is considered to be a "play-in" game to the PIAA AA bracket

I was just talking to a co-worker about the Windber - Township game and he said he is not going because it is at Berlin. He and his family would have gone if the game was closer.

It isn't nicer, but yeah it is alot closer. Believe me, I have no idea why they scheduled the game so far away.. When I heard of that game immediately thought Richland would be the place, but guess not..

Once you realize life is not always about convenience, I believe this would not even be a subject to waste time on!!!

I agree with you and others that Berlin has nicer facilities, i.e., bleachers, concession stands, etc. However, when important issues such as playing surface and parking contiguous to the facility are factored in, Windber Stadium clearly has as much, if not more, to offer than Snyder Field. Obviously I am not suggesting that Windber Stadium is even an option for this game, just talking generalities. One thing is for sure, Snyder Field is one of, if not the worst playing surface in District 5 (outside of Rockwood) (By the way I have been on all of the fields in District 5 with the exception of Everett and Tussey Mountain). I would rather see the teams travel to Bedford so the kids could play on a good surface than see them settle for Berlin.
Ridge has the worst playing surface I have seen. Haven't been to Rockwood but if its worse than Ridge then it is truly awful.

Why in the heck doesn't D5 play their championship game at Somerset High School? The ONLY school with turf in D5 + new facilities, it is like the Mansion Park of Somerset County!
But that would only make sense.

Did anyone ever "break their bones" at Rockwood?
