The last name may be ok for basketball, but for wrestling you can win your spot for yourself.

Now you are looking for problems Gunner, kids may be out cause their parents push them, but to make the team is a one-on-one elimination process. Unlike soccer, BBall, football where the coach decides, wrestling, golf, tennis allow for some competition to determine it.

yea there is no way a coach can choose if you wrestle or not (unless u get in trouble) in wrestling you earn your spot unlike most other sports.

in wrestling about the only good your name could do for u is when it is time to seed wrestlers for a tournament...other than that, it doesnt matter if your last name is kolat or sanderson, if you arent any good you arent going to win...
dep...not everyone has wrestle offs...for example one of my best friends wrestles at UPJ, and they do not have wrestle offs for the starting spots...the coach decides who he thinks would do a better job and plugs that person into the lineup...maybe, as gunner said, your name could play a roll here, but not as much as it can in other sports...

Seth Cramer plays soccer for Rockwood and wrestles for Berlin. Cramer has been nominated 2 years in a row for all state. Soccer helps keep him in shape for wrestling. Wrestling is cramer's first love!!

Gunner I like your style, you speak your mind and are a gentleman. But in some sports, your name does mean a great deal. If there is no process for eliminations of any kind, it is all the coach's decision and names can play a big part or how much time and money they donate to the club.

You beat me to it Cube...yep, no wrestle offs at UPJ.
A name can get you a lot of places, but if you don't perform you will end up on the bench. Also, people can surge over the name barrier with ease by showing respect, hardwork, and dedication. A coach can only deny those things for so long.
