Re: Barreconomics: How to Wreck the American Economy
Thanks for the advice on the career change deliverance. Kind of funny that you will judge and criticize what I do and yourself have offered nothing as to what you do or what you contribute to society. But than again most liberals are only good at one thing...telling other people how they should live and how they should spend their money. So I will continue giving kids "advice" whether its in the classroom, on the field, at church, or the 4H club without any reservations or worries from shallow minded people like you.deliverance wrote:It doesn't matter that you're just a Biology teacher. You're around kids giving them advice on life every day. If you talk to kids anything like the way you talk on here, then you should reconsider what you do. Maybe you're completely different in the classroom. If not, that's sad.

The Krebs and the Calvin Cycle aren't the easiest concepts to teach but we get through it.

vman, I hate to disagree with you in part but I really think you are going to see China economy take a much more serious downturn than ours. Here we might get laid off or take a hit in the 401K during a recession but in China that same recession causes malnutrition and starvation. In China of the 1.3 billion people 1 billion are still living a in the third world. You don't see it in the news but things are grim in China right now.

I know what you're saying Lefty...... China has a history of a Class System' which created a national policy of political oppression and ethnic division; currently the gap between rich and poor in China is growing and a new class system appears to be emerging. An income distribution system experienced reform which crushed out the pure equalitarian system or the 'iron rice bowl' system. The strategy of prioritizing efficiency was the first phase of reform, which helped the Chinese economy to develop rapidly. But due to uneven development, inequity in people's income has aroused great attention from society - the gap is so big that it is not healthy for social stability.
Despite that realization, I was just stating fact:
Despite that realization, I was just stating fact:
vman wrote: With China exporting five times the dollar volume in goods to us as she imports from us, Beijing's trade surplus with the United States set yet another world record: $266 billion.
In those critical items the Commerce Department defines as advanced technology products (ATP), our trade deficit with China in 2008 reached an astonishing $72 billion. Since 2000, our total trade deficit with China in ATP exceeds $300 billion.
Which of us, China or America, has the trade profile of a mature industrial and technological power?
Americans deplore our deepening dependence on foreign regimes for the vital necessity of oil. Are they unaware that the U.S. trade deficit in manufactured goods, $440 billion, is $89 billion greater than our all-time record trade deficit of $351 billion in crude oil?
Why is a dependence on Canada, Mexico, Venezuela or Saudi Arabia for oil a greater peril than a reliance on China and Asia for vital necessities upon which our prosperity and military depend?
Recently ex-Fed Chair Paul Volcker told Congress the "massive trade-related imbalances in the United States economy were the source of the financial crisis."
Pressed by Sen. Chris Dodd, Volcker said, "Go back to the imbalances in the economy. The United States has been consuming more than it has been producing for many years."
What "imbalances" was Volcker referring to? Perhaps these:
Since 1982, the United States has run $5.7 trillion in trade deficits in manufactured goods, and $2.1 trillion in trade deficits in auto parts, trucks and automobiles. Since 2000, the United States ran more than $1 trillion in trade deficits in auto parts, trucks and cars.
These statistics, these realities -- factories closing in the United States, manufacturing jobs being outsourced in the millions to China and Asia, enormous, endless trade deficits in goods -- testify to a painful truth: America is a receding and declining world power.

vman do a google on a new book title called "The next 100 years" by George Friedman. I have a copy on the way as I have read a number of reviews on it and the author and it sounds fascinating and his credentials are pretty solid.

southy, do not begin a sentence with but. I would think since you're so intelligent that you would know that. I just contributed to society today.

Thanks for the grammar tip. Now I'll give up a tip. Change that tax status.

And he will also pay for your house and car. I wonder how that's working out for that lady?deliverance wrote:Taxes? Barack said I don't have to pay them.
Oops. I started a sentence with "And". I must be stupid.
Deliverance - I've known Southy all my life. I will tell you this, while he has never lacked in confidence, he does more for others around him than the average person. He volunteers his time to youth in several ways. So, before you attack someone's contribution's to society, you really should know what you're talking about.
Besides, if you truly aren't paying income taxes yet, you have a lot of balls telling everyone else who does how that money should be spent.
So did the 2 of you meet up at districts? Inquiry minds want to know.

RidgeDad, it's a message board. If you want to question what someone does, then go for it. Don't take message boards too seriously. Southpaw and I like to take shots back and forth at each other. That's just how it goes. Do either one of us lose sleep over it at night? I know I don't. Also, I have paid my share of income taxes, so don't get your panties all in a bunch. By the way, I am an American and that gives me the right to say whatever I want about how tax money is spent.
