USATF OLDGUY,
Yes! You have a good point ... right now! The Windber Ramblers are on a "60" year cycle, of just getting to the State Finals.( I'm not kidding either)...
I've been going too the P.I.A.A. State Finals games since they had them at the Farm Show Arena {Late 70's} ~{early 1980's} ? & I've always cheered on the Western teams (of course), but when there's a District # 5/6 flavor there, i really take head & wish them the most in their game....
I'll be there at the Bryce Jordan Center once again this year, sitting about (7) rows up, at Section #105... & I hope once again that District # 5/ 6 sends someone too that final playoff game. Maybe Shade H.S. Boys team ? Maybe a McCort girls or a Guilfoyle team ? It doesn't matter... As long as someone can say they've been there representing that little ole mountain area, that usualy has No chance in He$$...

I'm kinda pulling for northern cambria girls as they too are probably going to be on a 60 year cycle after they lose this group of athletes.Plus the fact that they are a true"A" public classification school who doesn't have the ability to "recruit" for lack of a better word makes me hope to see there title hopes fulfilled.

Re: State Playoff Chances
d6 is usually stronger than d9 in most sports and d9 has proven over the last few years that they can compete at a high level in A boys basketball. d6 should be able to as well.

Elk County Catholic team from about 4 years ago could really play....they knocked of Blairsville with Ostach and Heighberger....That was quite a western final...then 3 years ago Dubois CC won states....D9 does for whatever reason put together nice boys A teams.
